Irish point-to-point winner on soft/heavy last year who ran well two starts ago at Kelso when runner-up in a novices' handicap hurdle. Bit disappointing in what was probably a stiffer contest back there last time and if you can forgive him that then he has a squeak, although this shorter trip does't look ideal.
Winner of both a bumper and a hurdle on soft ground in 2012 and made the frame on several occasions after that from higher mark's than today's, so potentially well handicapped. However, he has clearly had his issues and reappears here after an absence dating back to July 2015 and perhaps best watched for signs of a revival.
Pedigree suggests that he should be suited by the forecast bottomless conditions and he underlined that when runner-up over 2m3f here last time from the same mark of 99. Stable does well here and has been among the winners of late, so entirely possible that he could build on that here.
Dual point-to-point winner who has run with credit when making the frame over fences, though now switches to this discipline for the first time after failing to get round last time out here. Forecast conditions suit and he is a possible, although whether he will have the hurdling speed is open to conjecture.
Came good in a soft ground Newcastle handicap hurdle last time (2m6f), just his second start in this sphere, though the handicapper has not missed that and with the form working out well (fourth placed Ask Paddy has won twice since) has put him up a stone for it. Nonetheless, this is not the strongest of contests and he may be up to making the necessary improvement.
Another who is easy enough to take on, having never made the frame from 14 attempts and shown no recent signs of bucking that trend.
Forecasts
Rivabodiva (15/8), Mcginty's Dream (2/1), Late Date (3/1), Danehills Well (12/1), Glenma (14/1), Vasco D'Ycy (18/1), Warksburn Boy (80/1)
A mediocre start to the afternoon and one where RIVABODIVA is taken to come home in front. Hailing from a yard that does well at the track, this mare showed signs that a win may be imminent when running well here last time and with a handy 8lb claim of her rider to take off, she might just be good enough. McGinty's Dream won a Newcastle race that has worked out well and even with a 14lb rise for that, he is almost certain to be very competitive. Late Date could be the one to follow them home.
