Made an encouraging debut at Aintree but was a tad below expectations in bumper at Chepstow last time.; still early days but he does need to move things up a few notches now.
Represents a highly respected yard and, having shown ability in an Irish point-to-point, he certainly catches the eye as one for the shortlist. Positive vibes from the betting will be difficult to ignore.

Well beaten on debut and already has a bit to prove; in good hands though and will no doubt benefit from the outing today.

Was a well-touted favourite on his debut at Wincanton and looked to be good value for the support until he started to tire near the finish. Still, he should be sharper for the outing and, given that market interest last time, it is safe to assume he has been showing plenty at home. Another to monitor closely in the betting.
Makes limited appeal on pedigree but represents a stable that has hit a purple patch. (The yard has a 14% strike-rate from a fair number of runners in bumpers over the last five years, so the betting is also likely to be the best source of information regarding confidence this time around.)

Alan King has a solid overall record in races of this nature but this course wouldn't be one that springs to mind as a happy hunting ground. (0-from-6 in bumpers at Southwell recently) . He's respected but may also need a sterner test of stamina before we see the best of him.

Dropped away tamely on his debut at Ffos Las in December, where he created the impression that staying would be his forte. Best watched just for now.

Regally-bred individual but, considering he went through the sales at 140,000gns a as a yearling, it has to be disconcerting that he swapped hands for just £2,000 as a three-year-old. It's also been a very quiet period for his yard, so he is probably best watched this time up.

Not disgraced in either of his two stars up to now, but he already appears to lack a change of gear and probably needs a stronger test of stamina already.

Has an interesting if unspectacular pedigree, related to winners between 6f and a mile on the Flat. Makes limited appeal to get off the mark at the first time of asking though.

Forecasts

Bite The Biscuit (5/2), Aye Aye Charlie (10/3), Second Time Around (10/3), Major Davis (8/1), Sam's A Diamond (8/1), Nevada (18/1), The Last Day (20/1), Franz Klammer (25/1), Crinkley Bottom (50/1), Naasik (100/1)

Verdict

A tough one to call, as these are all long-term prospects who can only benefit from the experience. The likes of Aye Aye Charlie and Major Davis have already shown glimpses of ability and are worthy contenders. However, a chance is taken that BITE THE BISCUIT can build on the promise he showed in an Irish point-to-point and justify his £10,000 purchase tag straight from the off. 1. Bite The Biscuit 2. Aye Aye Charlie 3. Major Davis
