Game head winner of the Richard Davis Memorial Chase at Worcester in October (Good) for this rider, and posted a strong effort (third) off a 5lbs higher mark in a stayers Amateur Riders contest at Cheltenham in November. A rare Tim Vaughan runner here, and holds every chance despite encountering softer ground over fences for the first time in a while (won on testing ground over hurdles).
Won a pair of small field novice limited handicap chases at Carlisle last season (off marks of 124 and 129), and runs here off a mark of 133. Not able to cope with the rigours of the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter in March, and should strip fitter for last months Bangor reappearance.
No match for Bun Doran (beaten at Haydock on Saturday), when finishing seven and a quarter lengths third to that rival over 2m4f here just before Christmas, but previously was making headway when falling at the tenth in the Rehearsal Chase in November. This trip should suit, and a winner off a 1lb lower mark over three miles at Ayr (Heavy) in March.
Hadn't shown a great deal in three starts in beginners chases in Ireland against admittedly some useful sorts (including Min), before taking a 2m5f novices limited handicap at Kelso (Good to Soft) by eight lengths on handicap debut. Predictably hit with a 10lbs rise, and needs to prove stamina over this more testing track and longer trip.
Has run well on both of his starts so far this winter, twice finishing second from this mark over C&D. He got within seven lengths of the fluent fencing well handicapped Smooth Stepper on his handicap debut last month, and can go close here with the first time tongue tie applied.
C&D winner (from a mark of 112 in December 2015), and was pulled up on his return to action over hurdles at Haydock in December. Shaped better back over fences last time at Catterick when sixth of 14 in the North Yorkshire Grand National to Straidnahanna (runner up in same race in 2016), but this mark of 123 is perhaps high enough for now.
Forecasts
Bigirononhiship (7/4), No Planning (5/2), Fayette County (11/2), Subtle Grey (7/1), Angus Milan (9/1), Alto Des Mottes (11/1)
A fine handicap chase for a Monday afternoon in which a case can be made for the majority of the runners. FAYETTE COUNTY carries top-weight but with justification after an excellent effort at Cheltenham in November, and could benefit for coming here a relatively fresh horse. No Planning is capable of more over this trip and was just making a move when departing as the key cards were played in the Rehearsal Chase in November, but it is the first time tongue tied youngster Bigirononhiship who has produced two excellent efforts here already this winter that is likely to give the Tim Vaughan trained raider the most to do.
