Picked up by Kevin Ryan after winning a claimer by seven lengths for David Nicholls at Epsom in July and immediately provided a return when third to Certificate (7f Class 2 handicap) the following month. Lightly raced since, but only narrowly denied last time on the AW at Dundalk, but questions to answer at this shorter trip (especially here).
Previously with Marco Botti, and sports the first time visor on his debut for this shrewd yard. Difficult to know exactly what to make of his recent form, but notably was second over this trip on the AW at Kempton in October in a Conditions race to an O'Meara trained winner. Could go well if his new trainer can make him recapture his best form (Listed winner at Doncaster in October 2015).
A reasonable third over this C&D last week (Kasbah second) behind a progressive winner, but this is a grade higher, and had struggled at this level (admittedly over 5f) in previous races both here and at Newcastle.
A classy and powerful sprinter on his day over the minimum trip, with the Scottish Sprint Consolation and the Gosforth Park Cup in June 2014 amongst his six career successes. Absent since October, he has plenty to prove here from a wide draw (over this trip) on a belated AW debut.
Runner up to Pretend in a small field Conditions race over this trip at Kempton last week, and in the main (a poor effort at Newcastle aside) has been running well without winning in similar 6f handicaps this winter. Likely to find one or two too good again from a wide draw.
Has done all of his racing over 5f since March 2016, which isn't surprising given his front running style. Connections tempted to have a go here over further, and did beat all bar Gracious John at this track over 5f last month, but this trip will find him out at this level.
Ex Irish (Johnny Murtagh) and an AW winner at Wolverhampton and Dundalk, but has gone well on both visits to this track over the past month. Finished just behind Bosham here in December over 5f, and just in front of Sign of The Kodiac (when runner up) here at the weekend. Worth a crack at this good prize.
C&D winner (2013) who sports an array of aids (eye-shields and tounge tie) who won twice on turf in August at Yarmouth and Brighton. Has carried that form into the winter and was second to Nimr over this trip early last month at Wolverhampton, before a staying on third most recently over shorter at Chelmsford.
Three time course winner, including twice over C&D, but has arguably slightly lost his way since finishing third to Nimr (Upavon second) here early last month. Twice tried in Conditions events at Deauville, his most recent run on Tuesday at Kempton suggested that busy spell has taken its toll.
An all the way winner of a Class 4 5f handicap at Wolverhampton earlier this month, who has struggled at this level in the past and has to improve to go past rivals such as Upavon, Aguerooo and Gentlemen who have all finished in front of him recently in previous races.
Forecasts
Kasbah (7/2), Dhahmaan (9/2), Big Time (5/1), Aguerooo (7/1), Zac Brown (8/1), Sign of The Kodiac (8/1), Upavon (10/1), Gentlemen (10/1), Robot Boy (14/1), Bosham (20/1)
A fair Class 2 handicap in which many of the runners have claims, but also question marks against them. Big Time has proved to be a shrewd buy for Kevin Ryan, and with that stable in good form should be watched closely for market support, despite having some questions to answer over this shorter trip. Upavon sports all of the aids but continues in good form with a return to this trip promising to suit, whilst there is little to choose between Sign of the Kodiac and Kasbah. However, a speculative dart is thrown at DHAHMAAN in the hope that the combination of first time visor and the switch to an excellent trainer will see him return to his very best level of form.
1. Dhahmaan
2. Big Time
3. Upavon
