Hurdles bow today. Ran second in a C&D bumper last season and likely to do better over timber in time, but might find this a tough introduction..
Stable landed feature Grade 3 chase at Warwick at the weekend and have a good record at this track. Looked very green on racecourse bow in a bumper here last month and open to improvement facing hurdles today for the first time. Any betting interest would be worthy of note.
Hinted at ability when eighth of 14 in bumper here on racecourse debut last month and represents a powerful yard that has been among the winners of late. Has prospects on pedigree and is one to consider.
Finished runner-up on two occasions at this track last term for previous connections. Looks fully exposed though and might be taking time to settle in to new surroundings so others are preferred.
Showed ability for Nicky Henderson a couple of seasons ago but long absence before reappearing for new connections. Big effort latest though when narrowly ebaten at 50/1 over C&D and a repeat effort today would put him very much in the reckoning.
Not unfancied but showed little ability when well beaten on debut when trained by Nicky Richards. Has joined new yard since but is hard to recommend on the evidence seen so far.
Twice beat subsequent Group 1 winner Order of St George on the Flat for previous connections in Ireland, including at listed level. Looked regressive only two subsequents in last two seasons and duly sold on to new connections. Big player if he retains any ability so market should offer some clues.
Showed little on racecourse bow in novice hurdle at Market Rasen on Boxing Day but represents top yard and likely to improve for that experience. Definitely not one to give up on just yet.
Winning point-to-pointer who looked in need of the run when tiring on debut under rules recently. Drops back in trip and should strip fitter so might do better this afternoon.
No great shakes on the Flat for David Simcock but is in the right hands for a crack at the winter game. Showed promise over hurdles when fourth at Punchestown on New Year's Eve and wouldn't need to produce very much more to open his account over hurdles this afternoon.
Forecasts
Fairlee Grey (10/11), Loose Ends (9/4), Parish Boy (8/1), Chapel Stile (10/1), Craiganboy (12/1), Bering Upsun (16/1), The Wise One (25/1), Petite Ganache (40/1), Glingerside (50/1), Ceegem (50/1)
Gordon Elliott's runners here are always to be respected and his LOOSE ENDS showed enough on debut to suggest he may well prove good enough to get off the mark over hurdles at just the second time of asking. If Parish Boy retains any ability this listed Flat winner would be a big danger, but he may well have physical issues that might limit his potential. A bigger player may well be Chapel Stile, one of two in the race for Nicky Richards (the other is Petite Ganache). He showed signs of ability on his debut and could be an improver.
1. Loose Ends
2. Chapel Stile
3. Parish Boy
