Nicky Henderson has enjoyed enumerate success with his French imports and looks to have found another useful recruit in the shape of this four-year-old. He showed an aptitude for the jumping game in two starts at Auteuil last year and can be expected to follow a tried and trusted training regime at his new yard.
This fellow is best judged on his efforts here and at Perth at the tail end of last year. He gets the minimum distance well but, as he is susceptible to a strong finisher, he makes limited appeal for win only purposes. The size of the field rules him out as an each-way option.
Useful on the level for this yard and has adapted well since switching codes. He posted a solid effort at Kempton last time and it would be no surprise to see him take a race like this in his stride. The betting market is going to be the best good gauge as to how much he has thrived since his Christmas outing.
Showed promise on his hurdles debut at Sandown but was outclassed in a Grade 2 at Doncaster last month. This is more realistic for him but his career highest rating of 59 on the Flat underlines that he may be hard to win with in good company.
Made a very pleasing start over hurdles at Plumpton last month but the runner up from that race did little to boost the form when he was last seen out. More required against a couple of very interesting contenders here.
Forecasts
Master Blueyes (1/1), Divin Bere (7/4), Templier (4/1), King Julien (66/1), Head High (100/1), Magnificent Madiba (100/1), Shrubland (125/1)
An interesting little race which may revolve around MASTER BLUEYES and Divin Bere, who are both worth keeping tabs on whatever happens today. However, as the latter carries a 4lb penalty for a win in France last year, Master Blueyes gets the nod as the more appealing option at the likely prices on this occasion. Templier is fancied as the best of the rest.
1. Master Blueyes
2. Divin Bere
3. Shrubland
