Willie Mullins Saturday runners: Exclusive horse-by-horse guide for Punchestown

It's the final day of the Punchestown Festival and our star columnist has a guide to his team of Saturday runners.

15.05 Shanbally Kid

Danny teams up with Shanbally Kid again. It might be hard to think that lightning could strike twice and I doubt he will get away with the same tactic that he got away with last year. It’ll be tougher this year and he might be best watched.

15.05 Fishery Lane

I think he’ll love this trip and he’ll handle the ground. He’s one that could be one for each-way punters.

15.05 Sa Majeste

It’ll be a tough ask for him after running in the Irish National but he takes his chance.

15.05 Uncle Pat

He was second in the Ulster National and I thought he ran a hell of a race. He’s had enough time to recover and he’s another horse off a nice weight that could go close.

15.45 Captain Cody

All of my horses have enough weight in this race but I have been lucky enough to win this with top weight. He was running a cracker in the Grand National when he fell and he has a great chance here.

15.45 Argento Boy

Argento Boy ran alright in fourth in the Irish National. It might come a bit soon for him but we have to take our chance.

15.45 High Class Hero

He ran very well at Aintree but this race might come too soon.

15.45 Joystick

Joystick pulled up in the Irish National but that gives him a chance of finishing here. I think he’ll like the ground and he has an each-way chance.

16.15 Jade De Grugy

I think Jade De Grugy has her chance here. I’m putting cheekpieces on her and maybe a change of tactics might help her. We have to try something to make up the difference from her form at Cheltenham.

16.15 Place De La Nation

She brings some good form into the race after a good runs at Cheltenham and Fairyhouse. I’m hoping for the best.

16.55 Apolon De Charnie

We’ve a big field here in the 4YO hurdle. Apolon De Charnie looks the pick of the bunch if he can reproduce his Cheltenham form where he won the Triumph Hurdle.

16.55 Proactif, Macho Man

I’d say Proactif is a horse that could improve if enough rain comes tonight, but he needs that rain, while Macho Man is another that could improve and get in the placings.

16.55 Bertutea, Majolique, Moulin Labbe, Kai Lung, Madness D’Elle

The rest of them have to take their chance and they might get a top-six finish.

17.30 Jump Allen, Kopeck De Mee, Storm Heart, Kel Histoire, Sony Bill, Laurets d’Estruval, Dani Donadoni

We have a lot of runners in the Lawlor’s Of Naas Handicap Hurdle. Paul Townend has gone for Jump Allen so we must respect that.

Kopeck De Mee is going well at home and I’m hoping he will put in a better performance.

Storm Heart is a horse that has the ability and could win this off top weight.

The rest of them take their chance.

18.05 Cotswold Blue

Cotswold Blue is by Authorized and nicely related to Big Buck’s. She is a horse that has caught my eye in her work at home and I would give her every chance.
