Urban Fox in line for French assignment in Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville

Ground conditions will dictate whether Urban Fox will bid for her second Group One success of the season in the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville on Sunday.

Following a striking success in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh last month, the William Haggas-trained four-year-old ran with credit when trying to give weight to the Classic generation in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, finishing second to Wild Illusion.

The daughter of Foxwedge featured among a list of 11 possible runners for this weekend's top-level prize following the latest entry stage on Thursday morning.

Haggas' wife and assistant Maureen said: "She is in great shape but it depends on the ground with her.

"It was a great run at Goodwood, but it's a lot of weight to give the three-year-olds and she was surrounded by them in first, third and fourth.

"She was the only older horse in the mix."

Urban Fox could be joined on the trip across the Channel by Martyn Meade's Wilamina, with Aidan O'Brien's Rhododendron and the Jessica Harrington-trained I'm So Fancy the two potential Irish challengers.

The home team includes the prolific Bateel, formerly trained in Britain by David Simcock but now with Francis-Henri Graffard, and Lady Frankel from Andre Fabre's yard.
