The Curragh Cup and the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot are the two options under consideration for Ed Dunlop's Red Verdon.
Since making a winning start to his 2018 campaign in a minor conditions race at Lingfield in February, the five-year-old has finished fourth in the Betway All-Weather Marathon and was runner-up in the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket and the Henry II Stakes at Sandown.
Now Dunlop is considering whether to let him run over a mile and a half in the Hardwicke on June 23 or the one-mile-six-furlong Curragh Cup on July 1.
"We are thinking of running Red Verdon in either the Curragh Cup or the Hardwicke, but we haven't made a decision which direction we will go yet," said the Newmarket-based trainer.
"We will stay in the Hardwicke until as late as we can. He has run well on his last two starts, but it is all about the second half of the season for him."
