Tupi and De Bruyne Horse impress in France

Richard Hannon is considering a tilt at the Sprint Cup at Haydock Park with Tupi following his fine third in France on Sunday.

The five-year-old was sent off at 66/1 for the Prix Maurice de Gheest and belied his starting price to run a huge race in third behind Brando and Aclaim.

The Tamayuz colt could now be given the chance to build on that performance on Merseyside next month and is a 25/1 chance with Sky Bet.

"This was probably the run of his life," Hannon opined on www.richardhannonracing.co.uk.

"He has always threatened to run a big race in this company and he finally seems to be getting the hang of the sprinting game. He has run a blinder and I would say the next plan may be to head to Haydock."

Tupi was not the only Herridge Stables representative in action across the channel with leading juvenile De Bruyne Horse sent to Vichy.

Having disappointed in the Group Two Prix Robert Papin, the Showcasing colt was dropped to Listed level at Vichy and kept on well to score by a neck in first time cheekpieces under Christophe Soumillon.

"He got outpaced last time at Maisons-Laffitte and this step up to seven furlongs is what he has been wanting for," said Hannon.

"He was tough late and the first two pulled well clear of the rest. He is a nice horse and has some good wins left in him this year. I will discuss with the owners in the next week where we head next."
