Tuesday's Gallops Report: Andrew Balding

Our gallops reporter finds a pair of Andrew Balding horses going well ahead of weekend assignments.

SCORCHING HEAT lived up to his name with a powerful display at Goodwood and Andrew Balding's charge has the Ayr Gold Cup as a potential target.

The Qatar Racing-owned colt is the type of strong-travelling individual that should be perfectly suited by the way Scotland's biggest Flat race is run.

He has been given plenty of time to get over his exertions so that he will be fresh for his next outing.

He has worked well with winning sprinters from the stable, both on grass and the all-weather strip at Park House Stables.

INTRANSIGENT is amongst that number and he seems in good order ahead of another visit to Chester.

A turning seven furlongs brings out the best in the eight-year-old, who signalled a return to form is near when finishing second on the all-weather last time.

ST MARY'S has shown a liking for the Roodee and takes the eye in the stayers' handicap there on Saturday.

She is giving off the right signals, including in some pleasing work with last week's York winner MONTALY.

EOLIAN won well last time and has a race at Sandown as a possible target while FARLEIGH MAC could also head to the Esher track at the weekend or wait for a more straightforward assignment at Brighton.

SUMMER CHORUS looks a winner waiting to happen after a couple of near misses and has worked pleasingly. Chelmsford could be a weekend port of call for the four-year-old.
