Don’t Miss Swiss: 1.40 Lingfield - Swiss Pride

Any race where Hey Ho Let’s Go - overall record of one win in 26 starts - is put in as the 2/1 favourite is a race worth a second look, at least. He does come here off the back of a good C&D effort but all the same, 2/1 is a price you can swerve easily enough.

Miss Thoughtful is a bit more interesting now Luke McJannet won with a first-time debutant for the yard at Wolverhampton earlier, and she too is having her first start for McJannet, but you can hardly describe her as well handicapped, which limits her appeal.

Cappanatty Con tends to run his race more often than not and ought to be thereabouts, but Swiss Pride might be worth chancing after a couple of runs this winter that should have got him fitter. His record over C&D reads very well - 123163 - all of which were achieved off higher marks than today. Jockey of the moment Laura Pearson takes the ride, and is worth a bet, with the race likely to be run to suit.

Magic’s Moment: 7.40 Wolverhampton - Dream Magic

Recommending a horse that’s beaten the grand sum of three horses home in his last four starts seems like madness (and by 7.43 we’ll have found out if that’s true) but maybe there are reasons for thinking Dream Magic might not be the no-hoper his form figures suggest.

For one, he’d have needed the first couple of those runs after an absence since last February (on marks probably too high), and his latest effort can be scrubbed off as he came back with blood in his trachea, explaining why he stopped as quickly as he did. That, of course, could happen again, but it is the only time it has happened to him to date.

Blinkers go back on, which might be another indicator - the first time he wore them, he won, and when tried in them last February, after not having worn them all winter, he put in one of his better efforts at Lingfield, finishing second.

With the only other possible pace angle drawn outside of him, he should be able to get track position, so from a good mark in a winnable race, he makes some appeal as an all-or-nothing win bet to make all at a track he’s won three times at in the past.
