King Lear is bred in the purple (by Galileo and out of the dual Group 1 winner Amazing Maria) and his debut run at Newbury last month was full of promise, running on well once the penny dropped to pass the post only three lengths behind the winner. That form is the best on offer in this line-up and there should be better to come from him with the experience under his belt. A useful prospect, King Lear can get off the mark at the second attempt on his way to better things.
