It’s a very good card at Cork this afternoon and I have a couple of fancies.
Hasta La Vista Baby is a horse to keep an eye on in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden. There’s been a bit of money around for her, no doubt off the back of a second place in a barrier trial at Dundalk, but the one I like is JUST REMINISCING.
Willie McCreery’s team are going well at the moment and this Bungle Inthejungle filly finished fifth on her only start at Naas, three lengths behind today’s favourite Lay It Out.
However that was over six furlongs at Naas and my fancy showed lots of speed before gradually fading in the closing stages.
The drop back to five on a fast track is going to really suit her and she looks a solid each-way bet in a race that will play much more to her strengths.
The Listed Navigation Stakes at 4.35 is a very open contest – anything could win it – and you could say the same about division one of the Follow Us On Twitter Handicap at 5.05.
However I like MATILDA WITH ME in this. Colin Keane takes over on Roger Sweeney’s charge who has performed well since stepping into handicaps.
She finished third on her first start in this sphere at Killarney, doing plenty in front on testing ground.
She then went up a furlong at Punchestown on going that was definitely riding heavy and again there was a strong gallop on. The pace collapsed in that race and you can upgrade her run in fifth.
She has a decent draw in still nine this afternoon and back to a mile on better ground makes plenty of each-way appeal at 12/1 given valid excuses for her last two runs. She remains relatively unexposed and has the man riding more winners than anyone in Ireland right now aboard.
