The Tin Man team set sights on Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville

James Fanshawe feels The Tin Man will be suited by the French style of racing when he heads to Deauville for the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville in August.

The Newmarket trainer is looking forward to running the six-year-old in the six-and-a-half-furlong Group One after being far from disgraced when fourth in his bid to repeat last year's victory in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

"He ran a really good race and finished really well. He appears fine after the race, which is the main thing," Fanshawe told At The Races.

"He won at Newbury two years ago, but I know the owners would like to have a look at the Maurice de Gheest at the beginning of August. The Fred Archer team who own him would like to go there.

"If the ground goes very soft we'd go to Newbury, but the Maurice de Gheest is the race we've pencilled in.

"He knows how to switch off and produce a turn of foot. His style of racing would be sited by the way they run their races in France."

Fanshawe was delighted with the run of Tribute Act, who was second to the Marco Botti-trained Aljazzi in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes after being supplemented for the Group Two over a mile.

"She has always looked classy at home," he said.

"Tony Hill (of owners Elite Racing) allowed me to supplement her for the Duke of Cambridge and we found it was £1.50 per member to supplement her, so we did and she ran a really good race.

"I thought at the furlong pole we'd got it, but Marco's filly came and did us. She has shown what a good filly she is and she's exciting for the second half of the season.

"She' a close relation of Soviet Song and has got a similar physique. She's got some way to be as good as her, but she is improving."
