Free horse racing selections for Sunday September 2

Chris Wilson makes Archimento his best Sunday bet and has a tip for every race in the UK.

Nap: Archimento (4.30 Brighton)

Next best: Hart Stopper (3.00 Brighton)

Archimento looks worth an interest in the Holcombe Handicap at Brighton.

Course maestro Roy Rocket is sure to be a popular selection as he returns to his spiritual home.

But John Berry's wonderful stalwart is passed over on this occasion for Archimento, who might well hold the upper hand.

The five-year-old chestnut knows Brighton well, having won two handicaps over a mile and a quarter at the seaside track.

He also made a reassuring debut for William Knight at Windsor on August 25, when a neck second to Carp Kid.

The gelded son of Archipenko has only been raised 1lb for that narrow reverse and is not out of it from a handicapping equation as he is only 4lb higher than when he won at Brighton in May.

And with Jason Watson taking off a handy 3lb, the expectation is that he will go very close indeed.

Hart Stopper should be followed in the six-furlong handicap earlier on the card.

Stuart Williams' four-year-old takes an intriguing drop in grade after blowing all chance of a good run at Goodwood last time with a slow start.

Before that, though, he won a class two claiming handicap at Yarmouth so is seemingly in decent nick. This hardly looks an epic encounter, either.

Marjorie Fife has done a fine job with Red Charmer this summer and could well winkle out another victory with him in the one-mile apprentice handicap.

The eight-year-old is unbeaten in three starts since his transfer from Ann Duffield's yard, with his cosy success at Goodwood last week perhaps the pick of the litter.

It would be folly to bet against him making short shrift of a 6lb penalty in this humdrum encounter, especially as Fife has appointed the talented Faye McManoman.

Dear Sire can atone for a fall at Cartmel last week by winning the carpetgallop.co.uk Novices' Chase at Worcester.

Donald McCain's inmate was an encouraging winner on his chasing debut in July but came unstuck two fences from home on his last outing.

Dear Sire looked poised to win that day, though, so it would not take a sizeable leap of imagination to envisage him getting back on the straight and narrow.
