Sunday's horse racing preview and selections

Chris Wilson provides a selection for every race on Sunday with Venetia Williams' King Of Glory fancied at Fontwell.

FONTWELL: 2.00 Kilcrea Vale, 2.30 KING OF GLORY (NAP), 3.00 L'Ami Serge, 3.30 Peak To Peak, 4.00 Mon Parrain, 4.30 Greyed A, 5.00 Puppet Warrior.

NAAS: 2.20 Drumconnor Lad, 2.50 Go Paddy Go, 3.20 Edwulf, 3.50 Any Second Now, 4.20 Clarcam, 4.50 He Rock's, 5.20 Monbeg Worldwide.

SOUTHWELL: 2.10 Unzing, 2.40 The Chuckmeister, 3.10 Shantou Rock, 3.40 Akula, 4.10 Sam Red, 4.40 Cheltenam De Vaige, 5.10 My Mate Mark.

DOUBLE: King Of Glory and L'Ami Serge.

King Of Glory can make short shrift of a big weight in the totequadpot Handicap Chase at Fontwell.

Venetia Williams' inmate is nine years old, but he is still pretty unexposed over fences and has a fine chance at the West Sussex circuit.

His trainer must have been well chuffed with him at Sandown a week and a half ago on what his first start since December 2015.

King Of Glory did not win, but he would have gone mightily close had he not made an error at the second-last of a competitive three-mile handicap chase.

That mistake cost him crucial ground at an important time and he could never quite get back on terms with Willoughby Hedge, who won by two lengths.

It barely goes without saying that King Of Glory should be whole lot sharper with that run in safe-keeping, while the burden of top weight is at least partially soothed by the reappointment of excellent 3lb claimer Charlie Deutsch.

This slight drop in trip of little consequence for a horse who appears, on paper at least, to have not as much to worry about than at Sandown.

Fontwell's feature, the totepool National Spirit Hurdle, looks hard to work out, but it could be worth keeping faith with L'Ami Serge.

Nicky Henderson's seven-year-old is not without his flaws, but he is a Tolworth winner and has twice been placed at the Cheltenham Festival, lest we forget.

It is also interesting that the Seven Barrows handler has decided to keep going with him over hurdles, rather than revert to chasing.

And though, on the face of it, he was a big let-down in the Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock in January, he was later found to have had blood in his trachea.

That perhaps explains why he was so meek when it mattered on Merseyside, so another chance can be given to him in a trappy race.

Sam Red bumped into a very nice horse at Wetherby on his last visit to the races, but he should not be so unfortunate at Southwell.

The Dan Skelton-trained six-year-old was no match for the Cheltenham-bound Ami Desbois on just his second start since his transfer from Ireland, but he at least kept the winner honest and only succumbed by three lengths.

That piece of form alone probably sets the standard in the Infinity Racing Handicap Hurdle.

Ted Walsh has a good 'un in the Grade Two-winning five-year-old Any Second Now, who can extended his unbeaten record to three races in the Paddy Power-sponsored novice hurdle at Naas.
