Skelton won the big betting race on day three of the November Meeting with North Hill Harvey in 2016 and could be triple-handed this time around courtesy of Mohaayed, Humble Hero and Monsieur d'Arque.
Former County Hurdle winner Mohaayed, now rated 149 on the back of two low-key runs this season, has been left at the top of the handicap following the defection of Le Patriote, Brain Power and Fusil Raffles, while Humble Hero will look to bounce back from a fall at Ludlow last month.
The Greatwood remains a race missing from the otherwise glittering CV of Nicky Henderson and he could bid to put that right through Countister and Dame De Compagnie, who both represent leading owner JP McManus.
"They both worked very well on Saturday," said Henderson.
"They are both JP's (McManus, owner), but he is quite happy to run them both if that is the case.
Trainer Fergal O'Brien has enjoyed a fantastic start to the jumps season proper and his sole representative is Benny's Bridge, a wide-margin winner of the condition jockeys' race over the same course and distance at the Showcase Meeting on October 25 and Sky Bet's 8/1 antepost favourite.
He's been hit with a subsequent 10lb rise in the ratings, while the Paul Nicholls-trained Quel Destin makes his handicap hurdle debut off a mark of 149 following a hard-fought win in Cheltenham's Masterson Holdings Hurdle the following afternoon.
Gumball will look to follow up his Ascot success from 8lb higher and provide trainer Philip Hobbs with a fifth win in the race. Hobbs could also run recent Newbury winner Zanza.
The Tony Martin-trained Golden Spear, Tom McCourt's lightly-weighted De Mazzaro and Hannon for the John McConnell team are the only potential Irish representatives.
The remaining contenders in line for the valuable contest are Monsieur Lecoq, Project Bluebook, Harambe, Quoi De Neuf, Red Force One, Torcello and Grapevine.
