CLIFFS OF CAPRI, who maintained his good form this season when chasing home the smart Blue Mist in the International at Ascot last Saturday, can prove ideally suited by an extra furlong in Friday's Unibet Golden Mile at Goodwood.

A winner over this trip at Meydan in February, the six-year-old has been kept to seven furlongs domestically in recent weeks, staying on well when second to Jack's Point on his Newmarket reappearance in June and again running on at the finish when fourth to the highly progressive Motakhayyel in the Buckingham Palace Handicap over the very stiff seven furlongs at Royal Ascot.

With better luck in running, Cliffs Of Capri would have gone close to winning on two occasions on this course last season and, from stall four here, should get a great tow into the race from the Mark Johnston-trained pair Vale Of Kent (drawn three) and Cardsharp (five).

A line through Motakayyel suggests the selection has a few pounds in hand of the in-form Sir Busker at these weights while my reservation surrounding the Hunt Cup runner-up Montatham (successful since at Sandown) is that he is not ideally positioned in stall 15 in a race where low numbers can have a distinct advantage.

A fascinating runner is Prompting, who followed up his Ayr win earlier in the month at York on Saturday and is set to race off a 6lb higher mark in future handicaps. He could be the best weighted runner in the field but steps up two notches in grade from class four level.

Earlier, the talented One Master is likely to prove popular in the Group Three Saint Clair Oak Tree Stakes especially as she has some solid Group One form to her name, notably victory in the Prix de la Foret (7f very soft) on Arc day last October.

However, on one previous visit to this course at this meeting two years ago, seven furlongs on fast ground looked a bit sharp for the six-year-old and, while she has certainly improved since, the drying surface on what is forecast to be a scorchingly hot afternoon may not be ideal.

As an alternative is BREATHTAKING LOOK who seems sure to run another bold race following her neck defeat at York (6f) last time when seemingly having the race won until the outsider Queen Jo Jo flew home on the stands side.

The Stuart Williams-trained mare, who won three times over this trip last season (including in the Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster), showed bags of speed over the Knavesmire six and this easy seven could prove ideal.

Breathtaking Look continues to improve and, while never at the races in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot, she had previously been beaten only a length by the subsequent July Cup winner Oxted at Newmarket.
