DOUBLE: Eglantine Du Seuil and Oldgrangewood

Eglantine Du Seuil can register her first success for the Paul Nicholls stable by landing the St Marys Land Warwick Mares’ Hurdle at Warwick’s rearranged meeting.

The seven-year-old has taken time to acclimatise after previously being trained in Ireland by Willie Mullins, for whom she landed the Grade Two Tattersalls Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in 2019.

She has had four runs for Nicholls and has shown definite signs in her last two starts that she is coming back to her best.

There was no disgrace in failing by two and a half lengths to give The White Mouse almost a stone in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham in December and she stepped up on that to finish third behind Roksana and Magic Of Light in a Grade Two heat at Ascot last month.

A repeat of that performance alone would give her every chance of lifting this prize, and while she faces an intriguing opponent in French raider Paul’s Saga, the difference in styles of racing may just catch her out.

Roksana’s trainer Dan Skelton gives his Arkle Trophy hope Allmankind his last run before Cheltenham in the Agetur UK Kingmaker Novices’ Chase.

This strikes as the ideal prep for Allmankind, who has looked a natural over fences. He is unbeaten in two starts and was dynamic in winning the Grade One Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown.

He may not be an attractive betting medium – but his stablemate Oldgrangewood could oblige at decent odds in the Paddy Power Warwick Castle Handicap Chase.

The 10-year-old is a smart performer and has run creditably in stronger two-and-a-half-mile contests than this, winning two last season before finishing fourth in the Plate at the Festival.

He has yet to hit peak form this term but his fourth in the Old Roan at Aintree on his seasonal reappearance was a good effort.

Oldgrangewood was only beaten three lengths when fourth to Clondaw Castle at Newbury in November. That was his latest appearance, but he runs well fresh.

Lucky Deal can enhance his claims for the Betway All-Weather Marathon on Good Friday by completing a hat-trick at Wolverhampton.

All roads point to Lingfield on April 2 for Mark Johnston’s six-year-old after his victories at Newcastle and Kempton, coming back strong after 457 days on the sidelines.

The Johnston team can also strike with Sky Defender in the Play 4 To Win At Betway Handicap.

The five-year-old led until the final half-furlong when third of four at Lingfield on his first start for 86 days.

Sky Defender is entitled to come on for the run, while this slightly shorter trip will do him no harm.

With Lingfield’s jumps meeting a victim of the weather, the Surrey track is staging an all-weather ‘jumpers’ bumper’ card.

Ange Endormi shaped well when third in a bumper at Doncaster on his racecourse debut and is worth noting in the attheraces.com Maiden Open National Hunt Flat Race.

Galileo Silver did the business in game fashion in a similar event over the course and distance last time out.

A repeat would not be out of the question for Sam Thomas’s six-year-old in the Sky Sports Racing HD Virgin 535 “Jumpers’ Bumper” National Hunt Flat Race.
