Outbox can see off all challengers in Goodwood's Qatar Summer Handicap, according to David Clough who has a tip for every race.
NAP: Outbox (2.25 Goodwood)
Next Best: Enbihaar (3.00 Goodwood)
Outbox can see off all challengers in Goodwood's Qatar Summer Handicap.
The final day of the Glorious meeting will for many, of course, be all about finding the winner of the age-old puzzle that is the Unibet Stewards' Cup.
But that historic six-furlong showpiece is just one of a series of handicap conundrums thrown up by a hugely competitive card, and Outbox could put punters ahead on points after round two.
Simon Crisford's four-year-old faces a rematch with likely favourite King's Advice, whose prolific sequence of six consecutive victories since joining Mark Johnston had come to a halt before the pair met at Newmarket in the middle of last month.
King's Advice bounced back from his eclipse in the Northumberland Plate to run out an impressive winner over this one-mile-six-furlong trip that day - with Outbox flattering before fading into a near six-length sixth.
King's Advice has gone up 7lb for his trouble, though, and must concede six of them to Outbox. That in itself gives Crisford's gelding obvious prospects.
Further to his case is the impression he made in three victories during a brief, unbeaten campaign last autumn and narrow Listed defeat on his return at Chantilly in June.
Outbox appeared sure to take more of a hand until fading late at Newmarket, and the suspicion is he may be capable of significantly better on this less testing track.
The same comment applies little over half-an-hour later to Enbihaar as she too lines up for a rematch with an old rival.
John Gosden's four-year-old will be facing Dramatic Queen for the third successive time this season, in the Group Two Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes, having apparently been outstayed over this same trip by William Haggas' filly at York before turning the tables over two furlongs shorter in the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock.
She did so by only a neck, and must concede the Group Two penalty here. But Enbihaar was not flattered by the winning distance, and can prevail again at a course that should suit her running style.
Khaadem holds the class edge in the Stewards' Cup, as a Listed winner and Group Three runner-up this season.
Charlie Hills' three-year-old makes his handicap debut against his elders, in a race won by the younger generation twice in the past four years.
He has a feasible 9st 6lb to carry, thanks to the presence of his stablemate Vanbrugh at the top of the weights, and should be highly competitive at least.
The Qatar Stewards' Sprint Handicap, consolation for the main event, opens the card and Boy In The Bar catches the eye.
There has been a revival from Ian Williams' eight-year-old this summer, and his 4lb rise for a narrow Ascot victory last time still leaves leeway for a battle-hardened course-and-distance winner once rated much higher.
Away from Goodwood, Spirit Of Appin has sound prospects of flooring the prolific handicapper Bella Vita in the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Chalice Stakes at Newmarket.
Brian Meehan's filly outran her odds over course and distance as a Listed runner-up last time, and has scope for further improvement against her younger market rival.
Escape The City and Eula Varner both appeal later on the same card.
The Crown At Stowupland Handicap can go the way of the former, lurking at the foot of the weights with the assistance of Oisin Murphy - and in the St Andrews Bureau Handicap, the lightly-raced Eula Varner has a chance to build on the promise she showed last time.
