Free horse racing betting preview and tips for Saturday September 15

Nick Robson previews Saturday's action and feels Saxon Warrior could gain his revenge on Roaring Lion in the big one at Leopardstown.

NAP: Lah Ti Dar (3.35 Doncaster)

Next Best: Too Darn Hot (3.00 Doncaster)

John Gosden's late change of heart regarding Lah Ti Dar can provide him with another Classic in the William Hill St Leger at Doncaster on Saturday.

Straight after her 10-length romp at York in the Galtres Stakes, Frankie Dettori jumped off and said the one-time Oaks favourite should be aimed at the world's oldest Classic.

However, connections were then tempted by the prospect of the huge weight and sex allowance she would receive in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and it looked as though the Prix Vermeille could be the target this weekend.

Whether it is down to the fact Gosden already has two viable Arc contenders in Enable and Cracksman and he thinks she would be up against it taking on those or whatever, she has been rerouted to Doncaster and northern racegoers will feel the benefit.

Her presence certainly adds to the race, as does the late additions of Loxley and even Andrew Balding's Maid Up. While the St Leger gets roundly criticised, last year's renewal did not turn out so bad with Capri, Crystal Ocean and Stradivarius all fighting out the finish.

This looks another high-class renewal, but Lah Ti Dar looked well above average in the Galtres Stakes and given she arrives fresh and unexposed, she could blow the field apart.

It should be a big-race double for Gosden as Too Darn Hot, in the same Lloyd Webber silks, goes in the Howcroft Industrial Supplies Champagne Stakes.

A full-brother to Lah Ti Dar, he catapulted to the head of the betting for the Guineas and Derby when routing a decent field in the Solario Stakes that included Royal Ascot winner Arthur Kitt.

Mark Johnston's Dark Vision looks the main threat this time, but there will be an almighty pop if Too Darn Hot has bis bubble burst at this stage of his career.

Charlie Appleby's D'bai can get back to winning ways in the Alan Wood Plumbing And Heating Park Stakes.

Things have not fallen right for him since winning a Group Three at Haydock, but he is a true seven-furlong specialist and the only time he has run over that distance since saw him finish full of running at Goodwood.

Not disgraced over trips shorter than ideal the last twice, he is a strong selection.

Hochfeld can overcome a bad draw in the 32Red Stand Cup Stakes at Chester. Mark Johnston's stayer ran well enough in defeat last week at Haydock, but he will have been unsuited by the very soft ground.

With Franny Norton back on board he is likely to try dictate from the front, tactics which nearly worked at Chester on his penultimate outing.

Gosden's Fennaan seems well suited to synthetic surfaces and can land the £50,000 Bet totetrifecta At totesport.com Elsenham Handicap at Chelmsford.

Roger Varian's Daira Prince could be be on a decent mark in the Bath Cup Handicap, while at Musselburgh Artarmon holds solid claims in the Caledonian Cup.

At Leopardstown, it is high-class racing all the way and the shorter straight combined with plenty of Ballydoyle runners might just make life more difficult this time for Roaring Lion in the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes.

Aidan O'Brien made no secret of the fact Saxon Warrior was a sick horse after the Eclipse and if he returns to the form he was in earlier in the season when an easy winner of the Guineas, he might rate the value against the favourite.
