Saturday at Royal Ascot: Review and reports

The Tin Man came out on top in a battle royale between the big three in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on Saturday.

The Tin Man emerged victorious after a rough renewal of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

James Fanshawe's runner, a course and distance winner on Champions Day in October, returned to Ascot with a performance of real heart and class under Tom Queally in beating market rivals Tasleet and Limato.

The stewards held an enquiry into the scrimmaging between the first three inside the final furlong but after hearing from all three jockeys involved, the placings remained unaltered.

After Winter on Friday, it was September on Saturday for Aidan O'Brien as his filly stamped her authority on the Chesham Stakes, a race he won 12 months ago with this year's dual 2000 Guineas winner Churchill.

O'Brien said of the 11/8 favourite, who was ridden by Ryan Moore and is now the general 6/1 favourite for next year's 1000 Guineas: "She could be anything, she's very exciting.

"She could go to the Debutante and then the Moyglare. If she finished the season at a mile we can then see for next year."

The O'Brien bandwagon continued as the Ballydoyle handler secured top trainer honours for the week for an eighth time when Idaho (9/2) won the Hardwicke Stakes, beating outsiders Barsanti and Chemical Charge.

The Queen's Dartmouth had every chance when hitting the front seemingly full of purpose, but in the end had to settle for fourth.

Snoano was a 25/1 winner for trainer Tim Easterby and jockey David Allan in the Wolferton Handicap.

It was a fifth victory in total and first since 2004 for Easterby at the Royal meeting, while it was a landmark first for Allan, who said: "Getting a ride here is hard enough, so to come here and get a winner is a big achievement."

David O'Meara's Out Do return to top form in the Wokingham Stakes.

Sent off a largely unconsidered 25/1 chance, the eight-year-old travelled stylishly throughout before sealing victory with a good burst of speed passing the furlong marker.

Jockey Danny Tudhope was registering his first Royal Ascot winner as Out Do passed the post with half a length to spare over Godolphin's Steady Pace in the hands of Josephine Gordon.

The vastly experienced Oriental Fox completed a remarkable Yorkshire-trained treble on the day as Mark Johnston's charge toughed it out to beat heavily-backed 2/1 favourite Thomas Hobson in the concluding Queen Alexandra Stakes.

Victory looked all but assured for the Willie Mullins-trained Thomas Hobson when he struck the front with a furlong and a half to go but Tuesday's Ascot Stakes hero started to tire late on and Johnston's tough 8/1 chance fought back to repeat his win in this race from two years ago.

The mercurial US Army Ranger stayed on under Ryan Moore to claim third.
