Gallops Report from Sir Michael Stoute's yard

ULYSSES looks more likely than unlikely to run in next Saturday's Qipco Champion Stakes after pleasing Sir Michael Stoute in some work on the Round gallop this morning.

Kevin Bradshaw partnered the Niarchos Family-owned colt who was accompanied by SHRAAOH over nine furlongs.

The pace was raised noticeably at the seven and a half where Ulysses grabbed the initiative to stretch a couple clear. It was nice, easy work, however, as you would expect for a horse who has two high-profile races in his compass in the next three weeks.

He will bow out in the Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar, a race that Stoute has harvested over the years.

Most of the work happened on the Trial ground where in a mixed gallop of young and older horses GABR impressed under Jim Crowley working with the three-year-old SWIFTSURE.

The former quickened up nicely on the bridle to gain the upper hand.

POET'S WORD is in great form and gives the stable a second string to its bow in the Champion Stakes.

He engaged in a solo spin and is as fresh as paint following his cracking run in the Irish Champion Stakes.

Several two-year-olds worked and interestingly Ryan Moore partnered HERDWICK ahead of a race next week. The combination travelled kindly with a fellow juvenile stablemate.

WILD WEST HERO should have learned something from his first outing and he looked in good order in some work with URBINO and REFRAIN.
