Peter Bowen intends to give useful dual purpose performer Rolling Maul one more outing before taking aim at the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket.
The nine-year-old has been a revelation since switching codes, making it three wins from three on the Flat with victory at the July Course earlier this month.
Plans are now in place to give the six-times hurdle winner a prep run ahead of the valuable two-and-a-quarter-mile handicap on October 14.
Bowen said: "He has done well on the Flat. He was at the top of his mark over hurdles and he had won his novice chase, but he hadn't really taken to fences.
"He slid into a fence at Aintree two or three seasons ago and has never jumped the same since.
"Although he has won again over hurdles, it has knocked his confidence and he has not got the zest for it like he did. He has always been a really good work horse, though, and he really tries.
"We thought we would try him on the Flat and hopefully, with a bit of luck, he will get into the Cesarewitch now.
"We will run him again. I don't think we will go for the Cesarewitch Trial . We will try to find something easier as I don't want to give him a hard race before the Cesarewitch. There might be an opportunity to run him round Ffos Las.
"The Cesarewitch has been on the back of our mind for a while as we tried it a few years ago with Mr Ed and he was only beaten half a length in it. Two and a quarter miles will help him as well."
