River Frost back to winning ways

A round-up of the rest of the action from Kempton where River Frost got back to winning ways under Barry Geraghty.

River Frost left his fall at Wincanton behind him when getting back to winning ways in the Racing UK HD Handicap Hurdle at Kempton.

Having scored at the Sunbury track on his previous start, the Alan King-trained gelding maintained his unbeaten record at the track in the two-mile-five-furlong event.

Hitting the front late on, the 5-1 favourite found plenty for pressure under Barry Geraghty to defeat Coastal Tiep by a length and a quarter.

King said: "To be fair we schooled him a couple of days after Wincanton and he was very good. Just watching him jump the first couple today, maybe he just remembered it a bit.

"He is a grand, progressive young horse. It was very testing that day at Wincanton and that was not ideal, but he would have been second at best.

"We might duck Cheltenham and look somewhere else."

Visions of a trip to the Grand National Festival at Aintree have entered the equation for the Emma Lavelle-trained Irish Prophecy (4/1) after he maintained his unbeaten status in the Racing UK-sponsored bumper.

Barry Fenton, husband of the winning trainer, said: "He did the business at Doncaster, but things didn't go right there. He had to come round the outside and Timmy Murphy gave him a great ride.

"We always thought there was a lot more than he showed at Doncaster and today he has gone and shown what he is about. We were thinking about Liverpool. We never factored in going to Cheltenham."
