Racing betting tips: Tuesday May 19
1pt win North Force in the 15:50 Nottingham at 5/1 (Bet365, Ladbrokes) – min 4/1
1pt win Ballintubber Boy in the 19:30 Huntingdon at 11/2 (Bet365) – min 9/2
North Force is worth a bet now he steps up to an extended mile, having been short of tactical pace at around 7f in two starts so far this spring. He’s hit the frame on all four starts to date, with his best effort coming when second to Lyrical Song at Beverley last time out; that form looks better in retrospect with the winner progressive and third home The Resdev Scholar making the frame in a competitive York handicap last week.
There’s enough pace on here to suit North Force’s hold-up style and he has run well on a yielding surface last season, so won’t be inconvenienced by overnight rain. He’s unexposed as a miler having improved with each start and looks set to deliver now tackling a trip which should elicit further progress.
Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies have their horses in good hear right now, with two winners and two seconds from five runners in the past week, and they can improve those starts with Ballintubber Boy, who saves his best form for this track and comes here on the back of a couple of creditable efforts.
Three runs over C&D and yielded three wins for Ballintubber Boy who tends to struggle with his jumping over fences, but has kept errors to a minimum over timber here and looks very kindly handicapped on balance of form. He can make the running, but doesn’t need to dominate which is a bonus in a race where another couple are capable of going forward.
