Richard Fahey talks us through his two runners at the Breeders' Cup - including Ribchester's swansong in the Mile.
Sands Of Mali - Juvenile Turf 2250 Friday
Everything has gone really well with him, we just need to find a reason as to why he ran so badly in the Middle Park at Newmarket as we do like this guy, we think he’s pretty smart. However this is a completely different kettle of fish, a mile around two bends. I’ve no doubt he will get the mile, he’s a horse with plenty of speed that will stay.
He’s drawn three and the stats didn’t come out great for that position, however, you’d like to be drawn single figures so I’m happy to be there. Flavien Prat is a very good French jockey and his record at the track is exceptional so we're really looking forward to it. (25/1 Sky Bet - paying FOUR places)
Ribchester - Mile 2219 Saturday
He only ran 12 days ago in the QEII at Ascot so he doesn’t need a lot of work. The big thing is when you get here that you eat and drink and since he arrived he’s done just that. He’s back on good ground which we are happy with, whether he acts around two turns we don’t know.
He was on the grass the other day and it would have been nice to breeze him but he didn’t need to as he is fit and I would never do too much with them after being shipped over and then in quarantine. He’s a fit horse and we take it on trust that he will act around the two turns, if he does then he won’t be far away. He’ll have a light canter on Friday just to stretch his legs but he’s ready to go. (3/1 Sky Bet - paying FOUR places)
