Richard Fahey talks us through his Saturday team at Musselburgh and Nottingham with a sharp two-year-old debutant going well at home ahead of his first run.
Musselburgh runners
Brian The Snail (1.50) - It looked like he needed the run at Doncaster and he probably didn’t stay the mile, either. Dropping back in trip will help him, but hand on heart he’s a disappointing horse. He works so well at home. Seven furlongs should suit him.
Coolagh Forest (2.25) - He’s had a bit of a break since finishing third on the all-weather at Southwell in January. It’s a big ask for him on his turf debut, but he’s been quite consistent and he remains unexposed.
Gabrial The Saint (3.00) - We just think he’s quite badly handicapped. The only way you can get them well handicapped is to run them so we’ll see what happens. On all known form I can’t see him winning but I’d like to be surprised.
Ventura Gold (4.05) - He won at 25/1 at Leicester last time and it was probably his draw that saw him go off those odds as he was fit and well. He’s up 4lb and he’s won at Musselburgh before so there are plenty of positives for him.
Andok (4.40) - Strictly on ratings he can’t win and on form he can’t win. He probably needed it at Doncaster but I couldn’t say he’ll come on a lot for it. It looks a difficult task but we’ll let him take his chance and see what happens.
Nottingham runners
Dylan De Vega (5.05) - I’d say he’d be my best chance on Saturday. He goes well at home, he’s sharp and he knows his job. There’s a couple of nicely-bred ones in against him and he hasn’t the speediest of pedigrees, but I’ve been very pleased with him at home.
Jazz Hands (7.05) - He’s got the coffin draw I’m afraid in 15 and he’ll need a lot of luck to win from there. He looks to want this trip now but I’m very concerned about his starting berth.
