Seven runners for our columnist at Newcastle on Monday and he's looking forward to the return of Bond's Boy.
The horses seem in great order ahead of the resumption at Newcastle and hopefully we have a busy few days and weeks ahead. First up, here is my team for Monday's card.
1:35 Defence Treaty
He's in good order at home and might just have strengthened up a bit over the winter. He's working fine and is ready to start out here.
2.10 Bond's Boy
We've been trying to find the right race for him. He's grown and is a very tall horse who has done well over the winter. He's rated 86 which seems fair enough after his juvenile career and he's working well ahead of his reappearance.
3.20 Brian The Snail
I fear I'll be talking about him as I have for the last few seasons... he's very disappointing overall but we're starting to like and accept him for it - he still has his good days. He does it when he wants but would have a chance here on a going day. He's very fit.
4.30 Requinto Dawn
He was the horse who gave Paul Hanagan the horrible fall when clipping heels here in February. Paul felt he was running a good race that day and he's fit and well going into this one.
5.40 Lion's Vigil
I'd imagine there'll be one or two to beat him a maiden and he's more of a handicap type further down the line. He just lacks a gear but the step up in trip will suit and he'll win races.
6.15 Assayer
It's been frustrating as she's been ready to run for four or five months now after a few little problems. She's another who is very fit and very well and I'm sure there are races in her. It would great if this was one of them but it's very competitive. She tries very hard which always gives you a chance though.
6.15 Miss Seery
She got sent to me a couple of months ago to have a spin on the flat. She's had a run in a bumper in Ireland and is ready to go but I'd imagine she's another for handicaps. It will be interesting to see what she shows here.
