PRETENDING - 15:02 Market Rasen (NAP)

Quite a few hold claims in the mares' handicap hurdle over two and a half miles but there could be some mileage in siding with PRETENDING. She's been dropped a generous-looking 3lb for what was a respectable effort when fourth of seven at Plumpton late last month and she's now down to a mark 3lb lower than when successful. That latest hurdles victory did come at the beginning of last season so it's been a long time between drinks but she's got her ground, stays the trip well and represents an in-form Lucy Wadham (3-8 in the past fortnight), who has a 21% strike-rate with hurdlers at this course over the past five seasons including winning this same event in 2018 with Iconic Sky and last year courtesy of Miss Cynthia.

BRAVE KINGDOM - 15:55 Newbury

Major Fortune will be popular here after the cheekpieces had the desired effect last time but he's got it to prove again off the revised mark (122) and preference is for BRAVE KINGDOM. He bumped into a progress horse when second at Taunton recently and the pair pulled 33 lengths clear of the others so it was a fair effort and has hopefully put him back on track having been pulled-up three times in his previous four starts. He's lightly raced for his age, gets another chance off the same mark with Harry Cobden back in the saddle (takes over from Freddie Gingell) and he clearly handles plenty of ease in the ground.

FORGLEN - 16:57 Wolverhampton

FORGLEN should take all the beating in division two of the staying handicap at Wolverhampton. A course and distance winner last summer, he's been running well at Southwell since the turn of the year and the horse who beat him last time (Himself) has gone on to complete a hat-trick by winning his next two starts. A very slow early tempo would be the one potential stumbling block but hopefully Oisin McSweeney doesn't have the selection too far back early on as his form claims are outstanding in this sort of company.
