KOOL KID - 15:00 Plumpton (NAP)
KOOL KID looks to be entering the handicap ranks with a very workable mark and is backed to take full advantage in the Dawson Hart Solicitors Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton. Joe Tizzard's point-to-point recruit was a bumper winner at Hereford in February and has shown more than the odd glimmer of promise in three qualifying maiden/novice hurdle outings since resuming this autumn. His rating of 103 could vastly underestimate the horse now stepped up to two and a half miles and he appears well placed here in a moderate-looking event (trainer has had a winner, a second and two thirds from just five Plumpton runners so far this season).
THE DARK BARON - 14:42 Lingfield
It could be worth affording THE DARK BARON another chance at Lingfield after his defeat when sent off 1/2 favourite at Wolverhampton earlier in the month. That run came after quite an impressive win towards the end of October but, raised 5lb, he was too keen in the early stages and looked in trouble over a furlong out. To his credit, however, The Dark Baron stuck to the task late on to be beaten just two and a half lengths, given the impression he might still have some room to manoeuvre from his revised mark if able to settle. Dropping back to the bare mile around Lingfield could really play to his strengths and I'm willing to roll the dice in what looks another very winnable 0-60 handicap.
HANDLE WITH CARE - 17:00 Wolverhampton
HANDLE WITH CARE didn't give Toby Moore an easy time at Chelmsford last month but it was her first outing since July and she might be a lot sharper on this occasion. Marco Botti's filly has been eased 2lb in the weights and should be competitive here off a mark of 74 based on her head second at Lingfield when rated 75 back in the spring. Marco Ghiani takes over in the saddle and he's got a bit of experience on the daughter of Advertise from her juvenile days.

EDE'IFFS ROCK - 14:30 Wincanton (NAP)
EDE'IFFS ROCK had a good season last time around and returns on a slightly higher mark as a consequence, but that's not to say she's handicapped out of things and the seven-year-old could easily raise her game again after just half a dozen starts over fences. She loves testing ground and, more importantly, could get her own way out in front in this field. Providing she's fit enough on her first run back since late-March, Kathy Turner's charge looks well worth chancing.
BATAILLON - 13:15 Catterick
Passing Pleasure is going to attract all the attention here after his tidy win over hurdles at Musselburgh last week. He's clearly happy on a sharp track and will handle all the rain due to fall on Monday but BATAILLON is quite an interesting new rival and he's taken to appreciate the switch to fences after a comeback run over the smaller obstacles at Ffos Las. That should put him right fitness-wise and, having been dropped 2lb, he's able to compete off a 10lb lower mark than when first being assessed a couple of years ago.
BACK BEFORE DARK - 18:45 Newcastle
BACK BEFORE DARK has a bit to prove on the all-weather, having failed to figure the twice she's run on an artificial surface in the past, but that was last winter when rated 10lb higher and she looked to have found her level when runner-up at Hamilton when last sighted in September. The winner of that event went in again off a higher mark subsequently so a 1lb rise for Back Before Dark looks manageable and she's gone well fresh in the past. Following all of trainer Grant Tuer's older horses on the Tapeta at Newcastle would have yielded a nice profit (+22.78) and a small bet is recommended.
