MONTASSIB – 3.15 York (NAP)
William Haggas has found the key to MONTASSIB and he can continue his reinvention as a sprinter in the feature Group 2 1895 Duke Of York Clipper Stakes at York on Wednesday. The son of Exceed And Excel dropped back to six furlongs in the Ayr Gold Cup and an eye-catching fifth there was the platform for two excellent wins over the distance in the Coral Sprint Trophy on the Knavesmire and the Cammidge Trophy at Doncaster’s Lincoln meeting. Tuesday’s rain only helped his cause and he can make his fitness advantage count against the two fillies and mares at the top of the betting.
AVADA KEDAVRA – 4.00 Ffos Las
Nicky Henderson’s AVADA KEDAVRA should enjoy the step up in trip in division two of the AK Bets Big Prices Big Limits Handicap Hurdle at Ffos Las. From the family of Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth, this horse was outpaced last time over 2m2f at Stratford but he moved well for a long way and he can strike now he steps up in trip to three miles from a mark of 100.
GHAIHABAN – 6.10 Bath
GHAIHABAN bumped into Sir Michael Stoute’s Never So Brave at Thirsk last time out but she likely won’t find any of her Bath rivals so talented in the maiden fillies’ stakes over a mile at 6.10. Andrew Balding’s daughter of Too Darn Hot has been consistent in defeat in her four runs so far and she can now put that experience to good use now she steps up in trip to a mile.
OLIVERS TRAVELS – 6.52 Perth
Low-grade stuff at Perth but OLIVERS TRAVELS could be the answer to the Murrayshall Gold Handicap Hurdle at 6.52. His fitness has to be taken on trust as he hasn’t been seen since stopping quickly at Bangor in October, but his previous from suggested he was a strong stayer and there’s every chance he could outclass these rivals from top weight if he’s on his A-game.
