Ben Linfoot was among the winners on Thursday - he and Matt Brocklebank combine with their bets bets from around the tracks this Friday.
Friday selections
FISCAL POLICY – 13:05 Newcastle (NAP)
FISCAL POLICY won all-weather handicaps at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford from marks of 74 and 77 in 2024 and 2025 respectively so is of major interest again having dropped to 73. He’s also got winning form on the Tapeta at Newcastle so we know this track holds no fears and he probably ran a bit better than the bare form suggests when fifth of eight at Southwell last time out. Held up early that day before staying on to be beaten under four lengths, it wasn’t a bad run in the circumstances and it’s worth noting the third (Em Four) has won since off the same mark. Fiscal Policy was dropped 2lb and could be about to capitalise. (MB)
ICARE COLOMBE – 15.10 Market Rasen
ICARE COLOMBE admittedly hasn’t shown an awful lot in two chases so far but he did look more promising in his early novice hurdles and a chance is taken on him dropped in trip to 2m1f in the Family Sportsday Raceday On Sale Now Novices' Handicap Chase at Market Rasen. He’s worth a go dropped in trip as he’s not been finishing well over 2m4f and this is a weak race, while Fergal O’Brien has an excellent record in Market Rasen novice handicap chases (eight wins from 25 at 32%). (BL)
GERICAULT ROQUE – 16.05 Windsor
David Pipe’s GERICAULT ROQUE comes with risks attached but a mark of 128 is too tempting to ignore in the closing MPM Flooring Handicap Chase at Windsor. The 10-year-old ran really well at this meeting last year in third behind Herakles Westwood after 783 days off before he ran down the field in the National Hunt Chase. Second in an Ultima off 138 in his pomp, it looks significant Pipe has pointed him here for this test and first time out off his reduced rating could be the time to catch him. (BL)
AUTUMN ANGEL – 18:30 Wolverhampton
Tony Carroll continues to fire in the winners and AUTUMN ANGEL is backed to add to the trainer’s tally. The five-time winning mare looked back to herself when almost taking full advantage of an easing mark with the blinkers back on at Wolverhampton earlier in the month. She’s back for another shot over the same course and distance and although nudged up 1lb or the head defeat, the third has won since to give the form a small boost and she’s still really nicely treated on best form anyway. KILLYCARN - 15:10 Haydock (NAP)
KILLYCARN ran Chichester Park to half a length on the second of his two points in Ireland and that looks fair form with the latter winning at Thurles last month, fulfilling the promise of his debut third to L'Evangeliste (rated 130) and Heads Up (a three length second to No Drama This End last time). There was little sign of that ability in novice hurdles but he was far more encouraging on his handicap debut, settling better, travelling nicely and finishing off his race well. A 6lb rise in the weights (to 106) shouldn't be enough to anchor him and although there are a few in the line-up with similar potential, Killycarn can come out on top.
MORROPHORE - 13:15 Lingfield
MORROPHORE appeared to have more in hand than the half length winning margin suggests when winning the trial, quickening nicely to hit the front close home. A 3lb rise is more than fair for this lightly raced mare who is two from three on the all-weather and two from three over this trip. She can continue the good run of favourites in this contest (won the last three).
SURREY LORD - 14:53 Ascot
Denied a hat-trick at Wincanton, the step up in trip unlocked further improvement in SURREY LORD at Kempton where he won nicely, earning another 6lb rise leaving him almost a stone and a half higher than when his run begun. The Kempton contest appeared to fall apart a little bit and those to have run since haven't exactly raised the flag but the eye was always drawn to Surrey Lord who looks to have more in the locker and his trainer certainly believes so with the more competitive Lanzarote Hurdle having been under consideration.

BEL OMBRE - 16:20 Taunton
He has yet to translate his useful bumper form to hurdles (three relatively quick runs) but handicap company should offer a better opportunity to BEL OMBRE to start putting everything together. He had some fair horses around him when midfield at both Doncaster and Kelso in bumpers which suggests he's on a fair opening mark for all it's one that his hurdles form merits having tended to race too keenly (although results were largely in line with SPs). Bel Ombre will need to settle better to improve but looks capable of doing so in a race which may not take too much winning.
ALNAYEF - 20:00 Southwell
ALNAYEF is a 16-race maiden and hasn't always looked the most resolute in the finish but his best form has come at around this trip while he ran well on his sole course run to be beaten a little over a length over 14 furlongs in October. He's dropped a little more in the weights since - on a career low mark - which allows him to drop to a Class 6 for just the second time in his career and the combination may be sufficient to see him home in front having had a run to blow away the cobwebs after a short break.
