ORDEROFTHEDAY - 15:06 Uttoxeter (NAP)
Going up in trip on handicap debut, ORDEROFTHEDAY looks an interesting bet. Lightly-raced and in excellent hands, he got tapped for toe when third under a penalty at Leicester last time having scored at Bangor on his previous start. Proven in testing ground, he looks to be crying out for this step up two-and-a-half miles and an opening mark of 118 is perfectly fair on what he’s achieved so far – with the promise of much more to come.
SONNERIE POWER - 14:14 Lingfield
He was strong in the market when making a winning start for new connections at Kempton and SONNERIE POWER looks ready to follow up. The handicapper has shunted him up five pounds but he’s still able to race in a 0-65 and is well-treated on the pick of his old form for Mick Appleby. He's already a course-and-distance winner too and the way he went through the race when beating Fiddlers Green by two lengths suggested he should be capable of going in again.
NEWTON TORNADO - 14:38 Doncaster
He was pulled up after losing is action at Newbury last time but clearly all is well again with NEWTON TORNADO who is taken to prove he’s a step ahead of the handicapper right now. He certainly was at Bangor in November, impressing with his strength at the finish when pulling nine lengths clear of Laganhill. He's the sort his yard excels with and there’s plenty of improvement to come, especially as his jumping improves with experience.
TAURUS BAY - 16:10 Cheltenham
This is a fascinating heat with Act Of Innocence and Heads Up in there but TAURUS BAY has made a big impression in his two starts over timber and is one to follow. Ben Pauling’s charge hurdled particularly fluently at Aintree last time and quickly came clear of a pair of previous winners, beating Captain Hugo by four-and-a-half lengths. The runner-up has won since at Haydock and the selection looks open to plenty of improvement.
WOODRAFFF - 18:35 Newcastle
He ran very well at Southwell last time and returned to the course-and-distance where he was successful in September, WOODRAFFF makes plenty of appeal. The five-year-old was slowly away and caught in traffic the last day but ran on well to be beaten only a length-and-a-quarter into third by Operation Gimcrack. He arrives here in top form and looks sure to go well.
