YES DAY - 15:35 Windsor (NAP)
The claims of Special John are clear but last year's winner Planned Paradise has tumbled down the weights and Jack Tudor replaces a relatively inexperienced amateur who has been on board for his last four starts. It's no surprise that he's already been nibbled at in the betting but, as yet, there's been no such interest in YES DAY who beat Planned Paradise in the Devon Stayers in March. He is worse off at the weights but is below his last winning mark; the stable's horses ran well on the first day of the meeting and his run here on New Year's Day over an inadequate two and a half miles has the look of a very acceptable sighter for this prize.

RISK IT ALL - 14:20 Lingfield (Nap)
A chance is taken that a sliding handicap rating and a step up in trip can help RISK IT ALL deliver on his unfulfilled promise. A beaten favourite on his first two starts, he hasn't found life in handicaps any easier but his run on Boxing Day was not devoid of promise while his run at Kempton last year suggested he would be seen to best effect beyond the minimum. Two stablemates are towards the top of the weights and it's encouraging that Caoilin Quinn keeps the faith.
SEARCHINGTHEBLUES - 15:38 Kempton
She has only raced twice over six furlongs and got going rather too late in the day at Wolverhampton but that was a notable step in the right direction from SEARCHINGTHEBLUES. She made her handicap debut six starts ago off 87 but lines up off 70 having looked much more like the filly who won her first two starts, the first at this venue. It's been a while since the yard had a winner but a couple have hit the frame of late and Searchingtheblues can put them back in the winner's enclosure.
HE'S A GENTLEMAN - 19:30 Wolverhampton
The lightly raced Lodge is a fascinating runner for a stable that doesn't have many runners at this time of year and the market will no doubt be revealing. However Lodge goes, she does cede experience and HE'S A GENTLEMAN can put his track craft to good use. Always to the fore when winning here under Billy Loughnane - who rides Lodge - in October, things haven't fallen his way the last twice, racing in midfield at Southwell (second to a subsequent winner, third has also won) and missing the break after 'anticipating the start' last time. Nicely drawn if he gets away on terms, He's A Gentleman could be a tough nut to pass.
