LE FABULEUX BUCK'S - 16:20 Chepstow (NAP)
LE FABULEUX BUCK'S appears to have plenty going for him in Chepstow's two and a half mile novices' handicap hurdle on Thursday. The Martin Keighley-trained five-year-old has had four starts under Rules, improving with every visit to the track, and ran well for a long way when third of 10 in a maiden hurdle at Lingfield early last month. That third start over obstacles got him qualified for handicaps and his opening mark of 102 looks more than manageable, with the step up from two miles expected to play to his strengths (from family of staying types), especially on spring ground as he's mainly raced on soft. Sean Bowen taking over in the saddle can't be a bad thing either as he's got a 19% (57-302) strike-rate for the yard over the past five seasons and it has paid to follow the trainer/jockey combination so far this term.
CHOURMO - 15:07 Southwell
It's low-grade stuff but there's every reason to believe CHOURMO can run well in the Bet 10 Get 40 With BetMGM Classified Stakes at Southwell. His four career wins have all come over a bit further but he should be fine at the bare mile on this track and there's no doubt he's on the right side of the assessor having been eased another pound to a mark of 48 following last month's close third at Wolverhampton. That's a full stone lower in the ratings than when last successful in November 2024 and Hollie Doyle has been snapped up for the ride here.
KAP DE TRIOMPHE - 15:28 Warwick
KAP DE TRIOMPHE jumped impeccably en route to a five and a half-length success in a two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Plumpton 10 days ago and this looks a canny piece of placement by his trainer Christian Williams as the six-year-old can run off the very same mark as he embarks on a chasing career at Warwick. The fences here need plenty of respect but Kap De Triomphe looks a clever horse at his obstacles and has surely done loads of schooling given his yard's runners tend to improve when faced with the bigger obstacles anyway. I've high hopes for him in this company, even though softer ground might have been preferred in an ideal world.
ANGELARDO - 19:00 Chelmsford
Trainer Liam Bailey evidently has his horses in great shape (5-13 in the past fortnight) and ANGELARDO stayed on powerfully to open his account over two miles at Newcastle earlier this month. The slight drop in trip at Chelmsford is only a minor concern as the four-year-old looks well up to defying his revised mark (up 6lb) based on the last effort which is already looking decent as the well-held sixth was third at Southwell subsequently.
