Ian Ogg is back with his best bets for Tuesday's meetings.
Tuesday selections
APLACEINTHESUN - 17:00 Lingfield (NAP)
APLACEINTHESUN has had almost as many trainers as she has had starts which is not an ideal look but she caught the eye on debut for Ollie Sangster who is enjoying a fine mid-summer and may already have added to it courtesy of Bone Marra (16:30). Aplaceinthesun went backwards after showing a little promise on debut but her latest at Ffos Las was by far and away her best since, making ground from off the pace to be a never nearer fourth. She's related to a polytrack winner and may be able to build on that performance back up in trip.
LEELAWADEE - 17:15 Carlisle
LEELAWADEE made a promising start to life in handicaps when going down by a short-head over a mile at Thirsk and may be able to go one better over this stiff seven furlongs. The handicapper has bumped her up by a couple of pounds which shouldn't pose a problem if she continues to progress, as she has done with each of her four starts, and she's related to a couple of prolific winners in Spring Bloom and May Blossom which is a cause for optimism.
SECOND FIDDLE - 19:30 Hamilton
SECOND FIDDLE has made the frame on three of her five course runs, winning once, and may be able to double her course tally. That first success came on debut for Iain Jardine off just 46 but she progressed to 70 during the autumn of last season. Inevitably she has found life tougher since but has been knocking on the door of late and can give another good account with ease in the ground no inconvenience.
MICHAELA'S BOY - 19:45 Nottingham
Perhaps the cheekpieces will inspire MICHAELA'S BOY to new heights and they will probably need to as the top-weight has only won two of his 26 turf starts. He ran well here in April from a similar mark behind the re-opposing Grandlad, finishing sixth, beaten just a length and three quarters. He showed what he can do when on song when beating Twilight Calls on his penultimate start and he looks to have enough in his favour if he takes to the headgear.
Wednesday selections
MISS SCOTT - 14:30 Salisbury (NAP)
She’s been brought along steadily and MISS SCOTT looks ready to take this step up into Pattern company in her stride.
John and Thady Gosden’s charge was weighted to reverse previous course form with Manaar at Newbury last time but still impressed with how she did it and had petrol in the tank at the line. She’s progressed race-by-race, is proven on quick ground and we’re not close to her ceiling yet.
WILLOWINGHURN - 15:15 Beverley
She’s yet to really fire this season but there have been flickers of life along the way and WILLOWINGHURN drops into a 0-55 for the first time in her career.
It’s a career low mark, ten pounds shy of her last winning one, and a first-time visor goes on. She’s clearly very well handicapped and if the headgear has the desired effect from a handy low draw, she might be able to take advantage of the calmer waters.
BRAVE NEW WORLD - 17:40 Ffos Las
He looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind and BRAVE NEW WORLD can make a winning start in the sphere.
A well bred son of Siyouni, he’s been big prices in his three races to date but has hinted at ability and an opening mark of 59 looks perfectly fair. The excellent Ashley Lewis takes three pounds off and it would be no surprise to see Ed Walker’s charge take a step forward.
WARRIOR MODE - 19:30 Kempton
He looked rusty when returning from a winter gelding operation and wind surgery at Newmarket last time but WARRIOR MODE did enough to suggest he’s on his way back.
Sir Mark Prescott has his team in good form and his four-year-old was tapped for toe when the pace increased in a falsely-run race last time before plugging on again late. There’s a strong pace forecast on Wednesday which is definitely in his favour and he drops into a 0-85 for the first time in his career. The retrurn to a mile is another positive.
