Horse Racing Tips: Nap of the Day

One Wednesday bet left for Ben Linfoot and David Ord has all the Thursday selections with the Nap running at Wetherby.

Thursday selections

Things haven’t fallen his way since winning over course-and-distance in October but down two pounds and into a 0-140 WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF can resume winning ways.

He was poorly placed when running on into fourth behind Papa Tango Charly at Carlisle last time and Sean Quinlan returns to the saddle here. Cheekpieces go on for the first time too and he’s also best fresh so off the back of a seven-week break makes plenty of appeal.

EYE OF THE WATER – 2.55 Southwell

He ran as if needing his first run back from wind surgery at Southwell last time and EYE OF THE WATER is handicapped to win this.

The six-year-old’s mark has been in freefall of late meaning he can drop into a 0-65 for the first time here, nine pounds below his last winning rating. He showed zest last time despite losing a shoe and over a course-and-distance where front-runners can he hard to peg back, he rates an interesting bet.

PLASTIC PADDY – 5.00 Newcastle

He shaped well when third at Southwell last time and PLASTIC PADDY might well be the answer to the MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap.

Mick Appleby’s charge found himself further back than ideal behind Lammas there but races from the same mark this evening at a track where he has a fine record. An even gallop is forecast and that should give him a clear shot at things under Frederick Larson.
