SHADOW CHASER - 12:40 Carlisle (Nap)
SHADOW CHASER was strong in the market ahead of his debut for Sandy Thomson but failed to land the win share of the money in finishing second. Given the betting ring support, it's debateable how much improvement will be forthcoming and he has a 3 lb rise to cope with but on the flip side Thomson was 0-23 in November but has a couple of winners on the board this month while Brian Hughes is always a positive booking for the stable. There are mixed form messages from Shadow Chaser's Ayr run but he showed modest ability in Ireland and has started life for his new yard from a low base and can progress.
ONE BIG BANG - 12:00 Southwell
Essentially a match unless you're a fan of 'the outsider of three' and there was little to choose between ONE BIG BANG and Kamsinas over hurdles with the latter rated 1 lb higher. Both are winning pointers and both made encouraging starts to their chasing careers with Kamsinas faring better of the pair in going down by a neck to Wyenot at Ludlow despite some novicey mistakes. However, One Big Bang shaped as though he would come on for his run at Cheltenham, jumping well at a course that isn't the easiest for a novice to negotiate and he can use his proficient fencing to good effect from the front to put his rival under pressure.
