Racing punter turns £3 into £20,000 at Sky Bet after Musselburgh wager

Most eyes were on Chantilly on Sunday, but one Sky Bet racing punter's attentions were on Musselburgh where he turned £3.15 into more than £20,000.

The winning customer scooped £20,920.85 from a 5p win Lucky 63, costing him just £3.15 in total, after five of the six selections got home in front and that was after a losing start:

Winning punter's selections:

  • 14.30 Musselburgh - Rocket Man Dan 8/1 - Lost
  • 15.00 Musselburgh - Aimez La Vie 9/1 - Won
  • 15.35 Musselburgh - Economic Crisis 11/1 - Won
  • 16.10 Musselburgh - Sophie P 12/1 - Won
  • 16.45 Musselburgh - Jonny Delta 20/1 (B.O.G from 14s) - Won
  • 17.20 Musselburgh - Lady Joanna Vassa 15/2 (B.O.G from 7s) - Won

Sky Bet spokesman Michael Shinners said: "This customer must have said white rabbits three times this morning. What a great achievement for such a small stake."

Most of his winners prevailed in tight finishes with Aimez La Vie winning by a head, Economic Crisis winning by a short head, Jonny Delta winning by a neck and Lady Joanna Vassa just holding on by a short head.

The 'Best Odds Guaranteed' concession boosted the winning customer's profits as Jonny Delta drfited to 20/1 from 14s and Lady Joanna Vassa went off at 15/2.

But the easiest winner of the lot was Sophie P in the feature, as she scored by two lengths as she went one better than her second in the same contest a year ago.

The Mike Smith-trained Ayrshire raider was an impressive winner under Callum Rodriquez in the Irish Stallions Farms EBF Scottish Premier Series Fillies' Handicap.

Galston-based Smith said: "She was only beaten half a length last year and she has been running in better company over further. This win was more down to the drop in grade rather than trip as in think she stays a mile and a quarter - in fact she has been schooled over hurdles. She is entered at Ayr on Tuesday."

Perhaps the winning customer will be going in again on Tuesday...
