14:40 Stratford

Juan Bermudez will try to make all here, as he did when scoring over two furlongs further here last time. That was a strange contest, with runner-up Hope Rising seemingly throwing her chance away at the start (as she did again at Uttoxeter yesterday) before consenting to run on only at the death and Forget The Way failing to give his running.

The handicapper has been sensible enough with a 3lb rise, but all the same, it’s hard to avoid the feeling that the race fell apart and the form is dubious.

Playful Fox has been beaten twice at short odds and really only has his stable as a positive, so this could be the chance for RETETI to break his duck. He ran well when second over C&D two starts back to a subsequent winner in Prettylady and better again when trying to give weight to Goodwin Face and Alibey at Plumpton last time.

Both the winner and second won on their next starts to give the form a solid look, and with a good gallop pretty much assured here, Reteti is taken to shed his maiden status.

19:00 Windsor

FANDOM is the one in this field who could prove a fair bit better than his mark given the right conditions and it’s easy to forgive his latest effort in the Wokingham when showing speed on the wrong part of the track

Drawn in stall 1 in a race dominated by the high-drawn runners, he had little chance as it played out but ran well in the circumstances and was able to finish third of those who raced from single-digit stalls. Prior to that run, he had won in game style at Thirsk over 6f and he will suit this sharp track.

Previously trained in the US, where he won at Listed level, he failed to score for Joseph O’Brien before a couple of spins on the snow at St Moritz for Olly Murphy. He’s appreciated the return to top-of-the-ground conditions since joining Richard Hannon, and his two runs prior to Ascot show he’s competitively handicapped.

This is a much easier task than last time, and he’s fancied to return to winning ways.

20:00 Windsor

MOONJID took advantage of a drop in the weights to make all the running in a similar contest at Yarmouth last time and is effectively 2lb lower here when taking the talented Connor Whiteley’s claim into consideration so he rates a solid bet to follow up from last time with trip and ground ideal.

Moonjid may have his limitations, but the handicapper has given him a chance and his task here is not much harder that it was last time, for all an easy lead is no guarantee.

In terms of pace, Moonjid has most to fear from Twisting Physics, who was back to form when beaten a nose at Newbury last time. He’s a threat if repeating that run, but Oliver Cole has yet to hit gear this season, and his 6% strike-rate this season makes me wary of backing one from the yard until a corner has been turned.
