Our resident tipster Man On The Spot previews Saturday's action which makes up the £100,000 Pick 7 game.
1455 Haydock - Amix Silver Bowl Handicap
Richard Fahey runs a couple with Cullingworth preferred on last month’s success at Musselburgh and Mark Johnston has three runners, though Rusumaat has something to prove over today's mile trip. Jim Crowley prefers MUSTARRID to the latter having been narrowly beaten at Doncaster last time and Richard Hannon’s charge gets the nod to go one better in this. Maths Prize has a shout back over today’s trip having finished well held behind Shutter Speed at Newbury but Fire Brigade, Naval Warfare, Indian Dandy and Private Mission are all upped in class after winning lower grade handicaps on their latest starts.
1510 Goodwood - Winners Are Welcome At Matchbook Handicap
Aardwolf just couldn't hold Starlight Romance on his reappearance over Beverley extended 7f but put the run to good use when making all at Doncaster. He looks the type to improve again and will be difficult to catch. His stable companion Town Charter should win races this season though his victory at Ayr in July came on ground with plnty of give. HORROOB made a bright start at York last summer before reappearing with a comfortable victory on Polytrack at Lingfield. He only scrambled home in a handicap there three weeks ago but would have been an unlucky loser as he didn't get the run of the race. Hyde Park made all for a comprehensive victory in a Doncaster maiden in October though a mark of 93 looks high but The Wagon Wheel will be suited by stepping up a furlong and didn't get the clearest of runs on her return to action at Newmarket.
1530 Haydock - Armstrong Aggregates Sandy Lane Stakes
Brian The Snail lost his unbeaten record at York when failing to run any sort of race but that wasn't his true running. Second Thought continued his winning ways when landing an All-Weather Championships contest at Lingfield last month and is a threat to all but Poet's Vanity was well beaten in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and she has something to prove racing over 6f for the time while Ballydoyle’s Alphabet has it all to do on these terms. Compatriot Medicine Jack is preferred having won the Group 2 Railway Stakes at the Curragh last year but HARRY ANGEL is clear at the weights and finished well ahead of Mubtasim when runner-up to Blue Point in a Group 3 at Ascot on his return - Clive Cox’ colt looks the one to side with in this.
Sportinglife Price Boost: Harry Angel & Washington DC both to win - was 9/1 now 12/1
1550 York - Unibet Sprint Handicap
A fast time looks on the cards in this as it features a host of front-runners. Caspian Prince blasts out of the gates and COPPER KNIGHT made all when successful at Chester, where Rich And Famous was taken off his feet – it may be worth sticking with the three-year-old as Rachel Richardson’s claim takes a chunk out of the extra 8lb. Rasheeq finished ahead of Poyle Vinnie, Union Rose, Soie D'leau and Mont Kiara when second to Duke Of Firenze over course and distance at the last meeting here but that was on soft ground. Tim Easterby also runs the speedy East Street Revue and old-timer Confessional while Out Do is on a very fair mark nowadays and he’ll be one who would benefit if the leaders go too quickly. Love On The Rocks was second behind East Street Revue here in August and made a winning reappearance at Bath but has only won at the west country track so far.
1605 Haydock - Armstrong Aggregates Temple Stakes
Washington DC finished in front of a host of these when runner-up in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket three weeks ago. He was clear of Goldream, Kachy and Priceless with Alpha Delphini and Cotai Glory well beaten but Aidan O’Brien’s sprinter found TAKE COVER too good in last year’s King George at Goodwood. The latter had also beaten Cotai Glory when scoring here earlier in the season and David Griffiths’ charge gets the nod on his reappearance. Quiet Reflection had a run under her belt before winning the Sandy Lane on this card last year and is also penalised for landing a Group 1 here in September, but Waady has a shout if back to his best.
1620 Goodwood - Gentleman's Measure In Memory Of Phil Wiggins Handicap
Cosmelli completed a five-timer in Italy including in Listed company though all on very testing ground. Oriental Fox is a cracking handicapper at this level who stays extreme distances and finished runner-up in this back in 2013. Top Tug isn't a prolific winner though ran a fine race over a trip too short at Newmarket earlier this month but the progressive Batts Rock may not have the experience for a tough race like this on his first start over the trip. Blakeney Point ran poorly at Chester last time and though Manjaam has some strong form at this level he's yet to prove he stays this far. ANGEL GABRIAL hasn't won since the 2014 Northumberland Plate but has run some fine races in defeat and has now dropped to his lowest mark since May of last year so a chance is taken on a belated return to the winner's enclosure.
1635 Haydock - EBF Stallions Cecil Frail Stakes
Progressive last year, Gravity Flow returns to action having gone close in Listed company at Newmarket in October. Go On Go On Go On had similar form last year with a winning run in handicaps before beaten in a pattern race. FUTOON has the more recent form when second in a Listed sprint at Nottingham a fortnight ago with Bounce and Buying Trouble in close attendance and Mystic Dawn, Spring Fling and Evil Spell all further behind. She may prove good enough, though German handler Dominik Moser trained the winner of that Nottingham race so he should have a good line on the chances of Sugar Free. Clem Fandango is not without a chance either.
