Royal Ascot winner Old Persian will bid to enhanced his William Hill St Leger credetials in the Sky Bet Great Voltigeur Stakes at York next week.
Charlie Appleby's charge was an impressive winner of the King Edward VII in June but turned out quickly, could only finish sixth behind Latrobe in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.
The Newmarket handler said: "Old Persian is heading to the Great Voltigeur. Whereas he sat handy at Ascot, the gallop was different in the Irish Derby and it didn't work out. He has had a nice break since then as we backed him up quick enough in Ireland after Ascot."
Old Persian is currently a 14/1 chance with Sky Bet for the Leger.
