Permian Grand Prix de Paris bid confirmed


Permian is the sole British challenger in a field of 10 declared for the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris at Saint-Cloud on Friday evening.

The Mark Johnston-trained colt will be bidding to open his account at the top level after chalking up Group Two wins in the Dante Stakes and the King Edward VII Stakes.

Permian is one of two horses supplemented for the mile and a quarter showpiece along with Stefano Botti's unbeaten Italian Derby scorer Mac Mahon.

Aidan O'Brien is three-handed with Ryan Moore aboard Orderofthegarter, Seamie Heffernan riding Venice Beach and Donnacha O'Brien on Spanish Steps.

The Pascal Bary-trained Ice Breeze, winner of the Prix Hocquart, is race sponsor Khalid Abdullah's only representative after Weekender was taken out by John Gosden.

The Hocquart second and third, Shakeel and Falcon Wings, renewal rivalry with Ice Breeze and the field is completed by Valamaz and Parabellum.
