Four races at Brighton were abandoned on Thursday due to a false patch of ground.
The first two races on the card took place as scheduled, both over six furlongs, but it was a patch of ground just behind the six-furlong start which had officials and jockeys worried.
The closing Jingle & Mingle Christmas Party Nights Handicap over an extended five furlongs was scheduled to take place as advertised at 4.40.
Former jockey Steve Drowne, now a safety officer, told Sky Sports Racing: "Jockeys raised concerns after the first race about a patch of ground just behind the six-furlong start, basically where they normally start.
"This morning the stalls were moved 20 yards further forward. When it was walked this morning it was fine, but due to further rain and the horses walking on it it has made it a little bit false. It was a unanimous decision.
"Every race the crosses that patch of ground had to abandon, but the last race over five furlongs, which starts in front of it, will go ahead as advertised."
