Options open to Lucinda Russell trained novice chaser Big River

Connections of Big River will mull over the numerous options for the eight-year-old following his victory in the Ivan Straker Memorial Chase at Carlisle last Thursday.

A decision on whether he will take his chance in the RSA Insurance Chase at the Cheltenham Festival is expected in the near future with trainer Lucinda Russell also considering races at Uttoxeter, Ayr and back at Kelso where he has now won five times.

"We were really pleased. He's come out of the race really well. We're still unsure where we'll go next," said the Kinross handler.

"He's in the RSA. There's also a novice handicap at Uttoxeter and the Midlands National and there are races at Ayr.

"There are many options for him. We are in no rush. He may even go back to Kelso."
