Noel Meade Stable Tour: Guide to 2020-21 team including Tout Est Permis

Noel Meade talks Donn McClean through his team for the 2020-21 jumps season including Tout Est Permis who has a big Leopardstown date in his diary.

Barbary Master

He’s a lovely horse, he stays really well. He ran well in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time over two miles, and he could do better up in trip. He’ll run in another maiden hurdle soon. I’d say he could get up there.

Beacon Edge

He has been impressive in his two runs this season so far, and he’s real well. He will almost certainly run in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse at the end of the month, and we’ll see where we go after that. He might step up to three miles at some stage, but a lot depends on what happens in the Hatton’s Grace.

Brace Yourself

He missed the Troytown Chase, and he’ll run now on Sunday in the Florida Pearl Chase at Punchestown. I think three miles will suit him well. I’d be hoping that he’ll be a decent novice chaser this season.

Cask Mate

He has been good since he has come back. He was off for nearly three years with a tendon. He would have been back last spring, but we decided to give him more time then, the way the season worked out. He won his maiden hurdle nicely at Limerick in October, and he stepped up on that at Punchestown last time. I think he’ll probably run in the Royal Bond now, and we’ll see how we stand after that. He’s sharp, he has gears.

Charlie Basset

He has been hard to win with, but he’s a horse I still have a lot of respect for. I think he might do well yet. He has been running well on the flat in the autumn, but he does jump well. I’m not sure he’d want real heavy ground.

Crassus

He has been second in two of his three hurdle races. He’s a big strong horse and he seems to stay well. He jumps well too, and hopefully he’ll win his maiden hurdle shortly.

De Name Escapes Me

We were delighted with his win in the November Handicap at Naas on Saturday. We might give him a little break now, or we might enter him in the three-mile handicap hurdle at Navan. He’s just a bit windy over jumps. He jumps hurdles well, but he takes his own time over fences. It just stops him getting up to a higher level.

Dinard Rose

She did it well enough the last day at Thurles, she stays really well. She won the Ulster Cesarewitch last year over two and a quarter miles. She’s only a little thing but if she goes up in the weights, we might see if could we get her qualified for the Pertemps Final.

Diol Kerr

It was obviously disappointing that he fell on his chasing debut at Galway last month. We’ve put a lot of time into his schooling since, we brought Paul down to school him over poles, and he got around safely at Fairyhouse on Friday, which was the main objective. We’ll see how he goes now, but I’d be hopeful that he can get up there.

Dream Conti

He won his beginners’ chase on his chasing debut at Cork last October, and he was off after that. He hasn’t run yet this season, because he’s rated 131, and I couldn’t run him in those second-season chasers races, as he’d have been taking on horses rated in the 150s. He’s in the two-mile-six-furlong handicap chase at Punchestown on Sunday, along with Moyross, and I’m looking forward to getting him going this season.

Flanking Manoever

He looked good in winning his bumper at Downpatrick last month, and I think that he’s a very nice horse. He’s strong and he’s well. He might run in a maiden hurdle soon.

Jeff Kidder

He’s been good over hurdles, his couple of runs have been good, and he won well at Fairyhouse the last day. He mightn’t like the ground to be real heavy. I’d love to think he could run in the Boodles Hurdle. We might give him a bit of a break during the winter, I think he’s a horse who will keep improving. He’ll get stronger and he stays well.

Jerandme

He is two for two over fences, and he’s having a break for the winter. He doesn’t like heavy ground, so we are letting him off. He might be a Galway Plate horse, we’ll see how he gets on when he comes back. He could be one for novice chases at Fairyhouse and Punchestown.

Jesse Evans

It was just one of those things at Navan on Sunday, when he unseated at the first. He’s a quick horse, we like him. He’s in the Royal Bond but I might wait. He was very good in winning his maiden hurdle at Gowran, his jumping was good. I’ll probably give him a bit of time, he’s had a good few runs fairly quickly. It might be Christmas before he’ll run. We’d love to think he’d be good enough to be competitive in those Grade 1 races.

Lieutenant Command

He’s a strong galloper, he kept on well to win his maiden hurdle over two and a half miles at Galway last month. I think he’ll run in the Monksfield Hurdle at Navan on Sunday week. I don’t think stepping up in trip to three miles would be any trouble to him. He’s in good form.

Moyross

He’s had a few problems behind, but he seems to be in good shape now. I think he’ll come into his own when he starts going three miles over fences. He’s in the two-mile-six-furlong handicap chase at Punchestown on Sunday, the same race that Dream Conti is in, so we’ll see how he goes in that and take it from there. I hope that he can turn up in some of those staying handicap chases.

Red Gerry

He kept on well to win a handicap hurdle over two and a half miles at Punchestown last month. I think that trip suits him well, but he could get three miles. He might be able to run in something like the Coral Cup later in the season.

School Boy Hours

He has a high enough chase mark, but he ran well the last day at Punchestown behind Latest Exhibition, and you’d be hoping that he can continue to progress. I don’t think three miles would be any problem to him.

Sixshooter

I was happy with him in Navan, when he finished third in the Lismullen Hurdle. He’s a horse who is coming along all the time. He’s still an immature horse, but I don’t think three miles will be a problem for him. His jumping needs to brush up a little but he is jumping better now. I think he’ll continue to come on, and we’ll enter him for the three-mile hurdle at Christmas.

Snow Falcon

He has been great for us. His best days are probably behind him, but we’ll just drop him down to Grade 2s and Grade 3s and see how he goes.

Tout Est Permis

I thought that he would come on for his seasonal debut at Punchestown, I thought he would get closer to The Storyteller in the Champion Chase at Down Royal than he did there, and he did, but we were still beaten by him. I think he won’t run again now until Christmas, he’ll have another shot at the Lexus. He’s still a relatively young horse.

Young Ted

I was disappointed with him in the Listed novice hurdle at Cork, I thought he’d run better. He needs three miles, he’s rated 128, so he might go for a handicap now.
