Paul Nicholls is unsurprisingly not too keen on having another crack at Altior with Politologue.
With Nicky Henderson leaning towards the Celebration Chase at Sandown with the champion chaser, Nicholls is instead looking at options at Aintree and Punchestown.
Politologue finished fourth in the Queen Mother Champion Chase and if he does run at Aintree it would be over two and a half miles in the JLT Melling Chase.
The seven-year-old grey would have won at Aintree last season but for stumbling after jumping the final fence in front in the Maghull Novices' Chase.
"He might go to Aintree but we haven't decided for definite yet," said Nicholls.
"There are other options as well. There is Punchestown and Sandown but I've not spoken to John (Hales, owner) yet.
"He can run wherever we want as he is fine. It just depends on what the opposition is.
"It sounds like Nicky is going to go to Sandown with Altior and there is no point taking him on there.
"We would probably therefore go to Aintree. I would love to run him over two and a half on a flat track. Nothing is set in stone yet."
