Alpha Centauri being aimed at Moyglare Stud Stakes

Alpha Centauri will bid to get back on the winning trail in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at The Curragh.

After having impressed in her first two starts at Naas, the daughter of Mastercraftsman was favourite for the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and was beaten only a neck by French challenger Different League.

The form has worked out brilliantly, with the fifth (Madeline), sixth (Actress) and seventh (Clemmie) since winning in good company.

Alpha Centauri is now set to test her powers at Group One level on September 10.

Alan Cooper, racing manager for Niarchos family, said: "I spoke with Jessica (Harrington) on Monday and she tells me the filly is in good form and the plan is to run in the Moyglare. She'll go straight there.

"The Albany has produced an incredible amount of winners already and we look forward to seeing Alpha Centauri run again."

Alpha Centauri is a 16/1 chance with Sky Bet for next year's QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Another Niarchos family-owned filly who has already proved her worth at the top level is French Oaks heroine Senga.

Pascal Bary's charge is currently enjoying a mid-season break before returning for an autumn campaign.

Cooper said: "All going well, Senga is going for the Prix de l'Opera on Arc day. Pascal is still considering whether to give her a prep race beforehand."
