15:50 Perth - 2m4f Handicap Hurdle
Of interest to me is TOP FLIGHT CENTURY, who is no win machine but these conditions should be ideal for him - there’s been some rain around at Perth most of the week, and it’s likely to ride on the soft side of good here - and who ran a bit better than a fifth of ten at Hexham last time out might suggest, a drop to two miles clearly not suiting him but he stuck to the task and kept on well enough. It’s also worth noting Josh Thompson takes the ride for his dad David for the first time since the horse moved to him from Adam Nicol last year; Josh rode the horse four times for Adam and came out with a win and two placings, including a C&D win, so that can be taken as a positive too.
17:00 Perth - 3m Handicap Hurdle
DALILEO won this last year and has overall form figures at Perth in July of 22313 over the seasons, so this is very much his time of year and he looked like he was coming to the boil when third over C&D here last time out, just his second run of the season and one that looked very much like he’d come on plenty for it. He’s now 3lb lower than when scoring last year and for all he’s getting on a bit now, retains his enthusiasm for the game and this will be very much his Gold Cup for the season.
