RACING

Matt Brocklebank

Chasing The Rain made really good progress every time she stepped foot on the racecourse last year and there's every chance she's well treated on her seasonal return in the Fruit Shoot Fillies' Handicap at Wolverhampton.

It was here where the daughter of Toronado broke her duck on a six furlong novice event on October 30 and that came on the back of a promising fourth at Kempton.

She bumped into subsequent winner Red Impression at Kempton (now rated 96) and her win at Wolves hinted that she'd be fully effective once stepped up in distance this season.

So the move to seven furlongs isn't expected to prove a problem and a mark of 74 looks more than fair, while trainer Karl Burke just looks to have his string clicking into top gear (winner at Southwell on Sunday).

It's a warm enough race with James Tate and Roger Varian also unleashing potentially well treated handicap newcomers and Diamond Oasis lining up for Saeed bin Suroor on the back of a narrow success at Chelmsford.

But Chasing The Rain definitely has untapped potential and stepping up to seven furlongs could just unlock that improvement in the well-bred filly.

Sunset Flash appears to face a straightforward task in the Fruit Shoot Novice Median Auction Stakes at Wolverhampton.

David Lanigan's filly made an encouraging debut in a hot event at Chelmsford in November won by the potentially very smart Dubai Warrior and made no mistake later that month at Newcastle.

Always travelling like a winner on that run at Gosforth Park, she looks to have a bright future and will appreciate this extended mile better than the seven furlongs she faced there.

FOOTBALL

George Pitts

Eden Hazard has scored in his last three Premier League appearances in front of Chelsea fans, including a brace in their recent MNF win over London rivals West Ham.

Hazard, shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year award, averages nearly three shots per game in the league and has had 10 in his last three appearances.

He is clinical and can provide the class on the night. His price is short anytime, but for him to at least bag a double at 4s, it's worth considering.

It is often worth looking at the underdog's players in the shots market in games like this, where you can find some tempting prices such as this one on Ashley Westwood.

As much as many probably expect it to be one sided, Burnley should have some chances at the other end and central midfielder Westwood could fancy his chances.

The 29-year-old scored in Burnley's last away outing at Bournemouth and has had four shots in his last two games, 10 in his last seven, so he is not afraid of trying his luck and at 4/1 it is worth a small stake.

Paul Higham

With these types of games down the stretch, whoever needs it most will likely run out winners, and the Blades at 11/10 would be the idea on the outright bet, but Hull are full of goals and Jarrod Bowen has now gone five games without scoring – that’s already too many for a player of his ability so we’re backing him to get back on the scoresheet.

There’s been 13 goals in the last three Championship games at Hillsborough, while both teams have scored in five of last eight meetings between these two, which bodes well for the selection.

The Owls have enough quality around to get a goal, but Bristol City are a desperate team, but also a talented team with a decent away record for an away win with both teams finding the back of the net is our bet for this one.

Sporting Life accumulator at 11/1

  • Derby (to beat QPR in the Championship)

Frank Lampard's side have struggled to turn draws into victories of late, but what is important is that they have been tough to defeat with one loss in eight. They need a result to stay in play-off contention and face a Hoops side without a permanent manager and on a run of just one win in nine.

  • Wycombe (to beat Walsall in League One)

Yes, Wycombe's form has not been great since the end of January but Gareth Ainsworth's side have won one of their last two and host second-bottom Walsall. The Chairboys can get the result they need to ease their relegation fears.

  • MK Dons (to beat Port Vale in League Two)

Paul Tisdale's side currently occupy an automatic promotion place and can edge closer to League One with a victory on Easter Monday. They face a Port Vale side who have lost successive games and conceded six goals in that time.

  • Forest Green (to beat Cambridge United in League Two)

Rovers have been on a great run of five wins and a draw in seven games to put their name in the hat for the play-offs. They will fancy their chances at home to Cambridge, who are winless in four of their last five outings.

SNOOKER

Richard Mann

Mark Selby returns to his beloved Crucible Theatre on the back of a torrid season and will need to be on his mettle against the hugely-talented Zhao Xintong.

Xintong is a dangerous player whose bold, attacking style has the potential to put Selby on the back foot if the three-time world champion isn't able to find his groove early in the match.

Having played some fine snooker to qualify for the Crucible, Xintong should be full of confidence and is fancied to cover the handicap.
