Man On The Spot previews Saturday's £100,000 Pick 7 races

Our resident tipster Man On The Spot previews the races that comprise Saturday's free-to-play £100,000 Pick 7 game.

Saturday's Pick 7 Previews

2.40 Newmarket - BetBright Aphrodite Stakes

Goodwood maiden winner APPHIA justified her participation in the Group 2 Ribblesdale at Ascot when finishing a respectable fifth. There should be more come from Hugo Palmer’s filly and she can confirm Ascot running with Serenada. Skiffle has been aimed high since winning a Listed event over 1m2f last year and will be more at home in this while Isabel De Urbina went close in Listed company on the Rowley course here before struggling in the Oaks. More Mischief is penalised for last month’s success at Newcastle while Capricious Cantor and Smart Together are preferred to winning handicappers High Hopes and Return Ace.

3.00 Newbury - Bet365 Hackwood Stakes

Some decent sprinters have won this race down the years and if the rain continues to fall, MAGICAL MEMORY can fit the bill. The grey impressed on reappearance at York and he confirmed that favourable impression when sticking on well to score at Haydock. Koropick is lightly raced and he kept on determinedly to pick off Intisaab at Newcastle. The form of that race was given a major boost when David O’Meara’s charge finished just four lengths behind Harry Angel in the July Cup. Tupi isn’t easy to catch but he ran much better than his finishing position suggests in the Diamond Jubilee.  Three-year-old's haven't had much success over the last decade though Eqtiraan is fresh from a win at Salisbury and will have a favourable high draw. Gifted Master has gone well when fresh and he’s worthy a market check now he is returning to a distance that suits.

3.15 Newmarket - BetBright Casino Handicap

Curious Fox won at Lingfield before just missing out at Goodwood but is upped in class and raised a further 5lb. STANHOPE is preferred as he beat Hart Stopper by three lengths over track and trip last month and the latter went on to land a double. Fivetwoeight ran well on his reappearance and handicap debut at Leicester while Interlink has been thereabouts on the all-weather recently. Cool Bahamian won off a higher mark over course and distance last season but Ventura Blues looks high enough in the weights returning to 6f.

3.30 Ripon -  Sky Bet Go Racing In Yorkshire Handicap

Celestation continues to go close but she's becoming a bridesmaid a little too often for our liking and we'll take MULLIGATAWNY to jilt her at the altar. Amazingly, the ex-Jessica Harrington inmate is yet to score on turf, but his sixth in a valuable handicap at York reads well, and a reproduction of that effort should suffice. He was ahead of Jacbequick when the pair last met at Ripon and he can confirm placings. Aelius worked hard for victory at Nottingham and a 5lb rise seems fair. X Rated made all to win at Bath a couple of starts ago though he was comfortably held at Hamilton on Thursday. Marmion is a previous winner at the course over further. He was tried in a hood for the first time on that occasion but he's been well beaten in two subsequent tries in it since.

3.35 Newbury - Weatherbys Super Sprint

High draws have prevailed in recent years and in a race where plenty have claims, we are with TIME TRAIL. Michael Dods' filly has had a break having taken races at Catterick and Bath with the minimum of fuss, and on pedigree, there’s plenty of reason to suggest she’ll cope with the prevailing going. Richard Fahey has won this prize twice in the last five seasons and Maggies Angel appears to be the pick of his battalion. She finished second to her stable companion in the Empress Stakes at Newmarket. Snazzy Jazzy was weak in the market at Goodwood but was forward enough to do his job. Corinthia Knight was not disgraced in the Windsor Castle and has obvious claims on that line of form. Falabelle was caught in the shadow of the post at Carlisle on debut and the winner has run with credit since. Pursuing The Dream’s sixth in the Queen Mary reads well in the context of this race, whilst the booking of veteran lightweight, Jimmy Quinn aboard Mother of Dragons makes Joe Tuite’s maiden of interest.

3.50 Newmarket - BetBright Recall Handicap

Zwayyan is upped 6lb for winning in soft going at Haydock last month while Masham Star has found one too good the last twice now including over track and trip a week ago when caught by Medahim in the closing stages. Knight Owl hasn’t raced since finishing third at Ripon on his reappearance and this looks tougher than the race Examiner won at Salisbury last time. Ballard Down is 8lb higher than when scoring at Wolverhampton and Temple Church drops back in distance after running well over 1m2f at York. MASTER THE WORLD was having his first outing since February when beaten four lengths in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot last month. David Elsworth’s charge will find this easier and an apprentice’s allowance could see him bang there at the finish.

4.05 Ripon - Ripon Bell-Ringer Handicap

MUKHAYYAM ranked as a winner waiting to happen when given too much to do in a Lady Riders’ event at York but he gained compensation on his return to the Knavesmire, and could be the type to go on to better things. Sennockian Star needs little introduction and though he’s on a long losing run on turf, he's starting to look as if he’s back to a winnable mark. Gelding has metaphorically made a man of Jaameh and he rattled up a quick double at Newmarket and Chester. It could be much too early to dismiss him after defeat in the Northumberland Plate. Doncaster maiden winner, Mustaaqeem, makes a belated debut for Richard Fahey having left Sir Michael Stoute last year. Keith Dalgleish trained the winner of the prize a couple of seasons ago so the lightly raced Kensington Star is worthy of a second glance in the betting.
